The Great Southern Railway of Etorea class 38 was a class of seven 0-6-0 tender locomotives constructed between 1859 and 1864 for pulling coal trains on the GSRoE main line. The class was a "long boiler" deign having all driving wheels inbetween the smokebox and firebox, they were also fitted with "dumb" buffers for running with chaldron wagons.

Six members of the class were rebuilt in the 1880s becoming part of the GSRoE Class 272 with one having been sold in 1885 to Monaskea Colliery.
