ENR Class 24E

The Etorean National Railways Class 24E (Class 24 Eco, also called the Class 24/2) is the modernised verion of the 1960s built Class 24. They were intended for use on inter-regional passenger services while electrification was taking place over the final non electrified parts of the ENR.
In 2005, the ENR needed more environmentally friendly locomotives to run passenger trains on the few non electrified parts of the network. This lead the ENR to rebuilt their thirty Class 24 diesel locomotives in storage at Shanross MPD and Three Chimneys MPD. This was undertaken due to the 1994 Green Air Act prohibited many of the Class 24s and other locomotives from operating in certain areas without being in "Museum of Charter Use" as their emissions were higher than those allowed under regulations.   After the ENR was fully electrified, most of the Class 24Es were kept in service as freight locomotives with some being sold elsewhere. Most notably are 24 202 which is owned by the National Railway Museum and the thirteen that were purchased by FluxTrain. The few kept by the ENR were moved into departmental use to pull track repair trains.
