Franklin D. Roosevelt
Franklin D. Roosevelt was an American politician who served as Secretary to the Monarch from 1924 to 1926. After which, he took a senior position in the Royal House after his duaghter, Anne Roosevelt, married King James.
Roosevelt was born to a wealthy family in the Kingdom of America. The fifth cousin of Chancellor Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin attended Grotton Preparatory School, along with Archduke Louis Augustus. While Louis Augustus went off to study at the American Royal Military Academy, Roosevelt elected to study law at Harvard.
Louis would ascend to the throne unexpectedly in 1908 as Edward III, Roosevelt entered politics. Under Chancellor Charles Evans Hughes, Roosevelt served in the Executive Cabinet as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, though he had desires to be Premier of the Senate. When Edward was found dead in Columbia Palace, Roosevelt was among those who called for the Crown Prince to assume the throne. James struggled to assemble his own royal cabinet due to his inexperience. Therefore, Roosevelt offered his help.
When King James confided that he considered abdication, Roosevelt counselled him. Though Roosevelt held sympathies for James, he also had his own political ambitions. Roosevelt understood James needed to confirm the future of the monarchy, and thus introduced the king to his daughter, Anne. The two began a courtship and eventually wed, though many sources did not view the marriage as initially happy.
Roosevelt, even after leaving the official office of Secretary, campaigned heavily for those he supported, and often times this support was the deciding factor in the Selection of Chancellor. He attempted to use this authority by supporting candidates who would balance ideologies with James, who was often indecisive in his younger years.
