Runescript

Runescript is the language used by learned spellcasters to conjure magic. The language can best be described as a set of symbols, called Runes, which each corespond to a magical effect or spell and have a spoken word which describes it. Runes which represent a spell have the same power as the spell itself, such as an Arcane Seal or a magical trap. Inscribing runes upon one's skin, either through mutilation or tattoo, also have the power of the spell they represent. Magic is a phenomenon which depends on belief and thought, and so it is understood that Runescript only functions due to collective perception and belief in its function.    Despite being a language, Runescript cannot be used to communicate messages or form sentances.
