Shikichihime
Goddess of the rainbow and of the threshold; messenger of the gods; guardian of transitions and change. As a deity who is constantly in motion herself, her worship is strongest among travelers, wanderers and adventurers. She is often petitioned by caravan and ship masters and her largest temples can be found in port cities and trading hubs.
She is the daughter of Tanimaut and Medenis; in her capacity of divine messenger, she has close contact with almost all members of the divine pantheon as well as the quasi-divine entities such as the Rhai Cyntaf of the Feywild. Even the most malign of the deities know that to interfere with her in her capacity as divine messenger would immediately bring down the wrath of the collective pantheon on themselves.
Her consort is Nijino'otosama, Father Rainbow, a powerful fey being. Their offspring are often called the Daughters of the Rainbow, beautiful fairies of the sky rarely seen on earth.
Shikichihime's festival days are the spring and fall equinoxes and the summer and winter solstices -- those days that mark the transition from one season to the next. Her clergy and most devout worshipers pay her homage with rituals at dawn, noon, dusk and midnight -- those times that mark the transition from one part of the day to the next. Those undergoing major life events -- birth, death, marriage, coming of age, and so on -- will often make petitions or thanksgiving offerings to her.
Her symbols are the rainbow, the hummingbird, and the butterfly, and flowers of all kinds are sacred to her.
