Knight-High Protector Anrich
If blood really is thicker than water, than no organization on Karos is more tightly knit than than the Order of Rebirth, and no man commands more loyalty than Knight- High Protector Anrich of the Order of the Dawn Flare.
Sworn to Jarriel
When Karosians think of the goddess of rebirth, military might is not typically their first consideration. Anrich and the prior Knight-High Protectors of the Dawn Flare have done much to change minds. Though smaller than most holy orders, they are among the most efficient fighting forces throughout the world. Many believe that their impressive feats in combat must stem from more than simply their oaths to Jarriel - rumors about the order and its leader are fodder for many, including other followers of the Lady of the Second Breath. Some claim they made a deal with devils to gain their powers - an assertion that amounts to blasphemy. Others argue that the Order's knights must have some form of mixed heritage that sharpens their combat prowess. In truth, no one outside the close confines of the Order knows their secret.
In the Name of the Mother and the Father
While it is common practice for Karosians who join holy orders of The Second Generation gods to see those deities as their metaphorical mothers (or fathers), members of the Order of the Dawn Flare have a much more immediate and less metaphorical familial connection: Anrich. Jarriel may be their mother in spirit, but Anrich is their father in practice. Each member of the Order can trace their lineage directly back to The Knight-High Protector. When Anrich falls in battle, every member of the Order will retire to other duties within the church. His successor has been chosen already and has already begun to produce and train the next generation of knights. Those who produce the children who will become Dawn Flares see themselves as some of the truest disciples of the goddess, and the Knight-High Protector can generate a small but significant cadre before his predecessor is retired.
Anrich's Rise
The current Knight-High Protector rose quickly through the ranks, beginning as an Initiate of the Dawn and rising to command of a company as a Knight-Champion before being selected to become the next Knight-High Protector. He continued to serve the order while beginning to father the next generation. By the time his predecessor died, Anrich had attained the rank of Knight-Warden. By this time, he was nearing 50 and had sired 52 children, ranging from newborns to the oldest, around 30. Under its current Knight-High Protector, the Order of the Dawn Flare has increased in number, and its members' devotion to their goddess and their father is as strong as ever.
The Future
It is certain that preparations for the next generation of Dawn Flares has already begun, but the identity of the next Knight-High Protector is a closely guarded secret, and while other members within the Order certainly already know who will replace Anrich, the information is a closely-guarded secret to which no outsider is privy. For now, the Dawn Knight remains a strong and capable fighter with some of the most loyal holy knights in the world at his back.
