Exodus of the Elarûn

When we lost our goddess, we lost ourselves. We were left to wander. We fell to nothing.
— - Hal'herai, Elder of Doire Fíor

For millennia, the Elves produced wonders both majestic and terrible during the time of the Ilun'Serai. With the death of Myrthiel, the Elves lost their empire, their culture, and their dominance.

The Dark Times

The Elvish forces fought on for centuries during The Divinity Wars, working to preserve their culture with all of their power. In the end, the forces of Itun overwhelmed the Elvish people and slew their goddess. With her gone, the Elvish empire crumbled to dust. Those who survived fled the genocide of their race. They fled to the far corners of Karos, abandoning the power of empires for the strength of the natural world.

The Flight

In the aftermath of the wars, the Elves fled from the center of their power. They abandoned the power of empires for that of tribe and community. Broken and without hope, the remnants of the Ilun'Serai fractured into dozens or pieces, and the survivors fled to the corners of the world. They settled in the farthest places of Karos, including The Far Reaches. Though each tribe is rooted in the traditions of the original empire, the individual groups have developed their own tribal customs and traditions.

Modern Times

In the millennia since, first the The Divinity Wars and then The Dragon Wars, the Elves have lost much of their magic and their power. The communities that have sprung up throughout Karos have grown strong but insular. Long lived as they are, the tribal Elves have grown strong bonds among each other, but they have worked to shut out all others, including those of other races and even other tribes from their own. In the intervening centuries, most of the Elvish tribes have become strangers even to one another, but they have remained strong in their own rights, ready to defend their own traditions and those of nature against all enemies.
