Haven Sound
Haven Sound is a rugged and mysterious coastal region renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, treacherous landscapes, and the dangerous secrets lurking within. Positioned at the edge of civilization, it serves as a hub for pirates, adventurers, merchants, and seafarers seeking fortune, adventure, and sometimes redemption.
The region is named after the deep, fjord-like bay that cuts into the land, providing both a safe harbor and a haven for the daring and the desperate alike. Haven Sound attracts a diverse population, from freebooters and merchants to scholars and refugees.
While the area is loosely governed by local leaders like dockmasters and merchant lords, there is no overarching rule as the government was dismantled years ago, creating a climate of tenuous alliances and constant pirate power struggles.

So here we are on another well-paid job from our favorite Goblin, Captain Hugo, having drinks paid for by him at the Knock Knock Tavern here in Haven Sound. He explained to us with great concern that the weather relay is broken near Higbee Point and needs to be fixed due to it not functionally working from possible foul play. He is willing to pay us a very nice profit of 500 gold pieces with half upfront and the other half upon completion. ~Mr. Vaegolin
At this moment the owner of the Knock Knock Tavern Mr. Vaegolin, comes over as Captain Hugo explains that we will meet a Mr. Aldre Tamm up at Higbee Point. Mr. Vaegolin comes back after serving more drinks and inquires on the job that is requested of us somewhat suspiciously, but Captain Hugo explains it to him anyways. ~ Captain Hugo
Captain Hugo, wanting to know the new faces of Steelhawk International after explaining the job, asks us to introduce the few new faces that he has yet to meet. So, one by one we tell him who we are, and after introductions. Rurin, Elandor, and I (Crock) when asked about some past adventures we talked about our time out at the Red Sky Mesa Helping the Future Chief Batu rise up and earn his position, and the tattoos we received as part of the ritual. We talked about our past adventures with Captain Hugo and before we left for Higbee Point, Tuff paused for a moment as they spoke up and said, “Listen everyone, I wrote a song that I would like to play for you before we set out”. At this moment the Tavern went silent as Tuff played a very powerful and thoughtful tune that left Rurin headbanging at the table and others dancing. When the song came to an end the Tavern erupted with applause and cheers for Tuff.
As we were getting ready to leave the Knock Knock Tavern when we asked Mr. Vaegolin if he had noticed anything strange up at Higbee Point near the weather relay? His answer was vague, stating that he doesn’t really travel that walking/hiking path but hasn’t seen anything out of the ordinary. We took the answer as it is and departed for the job we were hired to do.
We found our way exiting out of the west gate of the city into a wooded area. Once we enter from the tree line we started to discuss how to further proceed as I Crock decided to become one with the shadows as the others just decided to make all the noise possible as we made our way to Higbee Point. At this moment Elandor heard and noticed some shuffling from a large bush not too far in the distance. A full-size elephant emerges suddenly from the bush and attacks with predatory instincts. After a few blows to the elephant, it finally goes down and I start to expertly carve away some of the elephant (others may say differently, don’t listen to them). I was able to get a perfectly sized tusk that I handed to Rurin to get turned into a giant drinking horn. I would also like to add that for some strange reason unknown to myself, that our group leader Ma-Ti had a featherlike beard formed on their face and then Rurin was comparing it to his beard. Strange individuals they are. When we finally cleared the forest with no further incidents, we found ourselves on a plain cliffside near the open water. Further up the way we spot Higbee Point’s weather relay. We approach the relay station, and we are not able to see or hear anyone minus the rough seas crashing into the cliff. I approach the station door and suddenly from the relay we all hear a voice saying, “Don’t open the door the place is infested”. We all turn to see who we assume is Mr. Alder Tamm, which turned out it was him. ~Alder Tamm
We asked infested with what and he says creatures bigger than him, and I point out that I’m not afraid and I’m only four foot tall. “But you have weapons”, he said. I simply asked him if he had a knife, his response was “all I have is this hammer”. We all agreed that we would go in to see what he was talking about, so I opened the door and at first, I didn’t see anything until the rest of us continued to filter in through the door, giant rat swarms appeared. We have now become, in my opinion, some of the best giant rat exterminators on Haven Sound. After a little investigation into how the giant rats got into the building Ma-Ti pointed out in the corner a chewed-out hole in the wall.
After finding the hole in the wall, Mr. Alder Tamm came into the room surprised to find us all alive (Like Giant Rats could take us out). We point out how the rats got into the building and would need to be repaired so this doesn’t happen again. His attitude was somewhat nonchalant to the problem and is only focused on getting the new relay installed. As our strongest members grabbed the replacement out of a crate that was in the room we managed to make it to the tower. We had issues at first getting this heavy piece of equipment onto the tower since it was 10 feet above our (collective) heads, but we managed to get the new relay completely installed. Suddenly we all started to hear a resonating sound being emitted from somewhere on a frequency not coming from the weather relay tower. After asking Mr. Alder Tamm if he had ever heard the sound before he was as lost as all of us. My magical companions were trying everything to detect some form of arcana or spiritual interference but found nothing. So, being vertically challenged as I am, I have learned to listen to the earth that which I stand on and detected that the resonating sound was coming from the ground itself.
Discovering that the issue was coming from the ground we asked Mr. Alder Tamm if he had noticed anything or anyone nearby the weather relay recently. He stated that there was an individual that was wearing a dark long cloak that came out of the forest and stood there and suddenly walked back into the forest. We found that strange, but we did not pursue any further questions about it as we wanted to find the source of the noise. We slowly made our way further down the coastline to find a nest with three giant eggs and from what Mr. Alder Tamm stated was a Rock Drake nest. As carefully as we all could we snuck past the nest to not cause an issue that we may or may not be able to handle.
We approach the end of the trail that leads to another cliffside, and I see this weird rock formation against the cliff wall. Through ingenuity, Rurin and I plan to stick my spare short sword into the ground as an anchor and to tie a rope around the hilt to allow easier access to climb down the. With Monsoon staying up on the trail the rest of us were staring at this rock formation that had some form of glowing blue writing on it that none of us could read:
We could tell that the noise was present and strong where we were and that the stone appeared to be older than the ground that it stood on. My magical friends did some more checks to see what they could find or detect. I just decided to just go up and touch the stone, and when I do, I suddenly understand what the words were on the stone: “Center of the Sound”. I tell this to my companions and more questions swirl around in our heads. Tuff had an idea that maybe they could pull out their lute and try to match the pitch while playing, and from what they explained was some sort of magical anagram, that after some time they said spelled out: “Where the sound breaks and gathers, the heart shall ring”. Rurin then touched the stone and somehow caused cold damage to himself but got the same message that Tuff just deciphered for us.
Together we pulled out our map that we had and discovered that the stone was facing out towards the open water and the answer to the noise could potentially be out in the water and would have to get to the ship that we in Steelhawk International have. Reports will be sent to our counterparts for further investigation. More stone structures may be possible to triangulate an exact location.

Lets not lie to ourselves, navigating between both Hugo and Ignacio, has been quite a fun experience. Working on both ends and the two are none the wiser while we maximize our earnings from both sides. This time around we received word from Ignacio asking us to venture towards a Tavern located at east crank. A humble establishment from owner Judy, quite a couple of regulars were already inside enjoying the drinks, except for one individual off at a corner table. Ignacio, who held a somewhat serious expression, obviously sitting there waiting for us.
Not wasting time, the party approached Ignacio inquiring about the job. Then began Ignacio’s recounting of recent events, an ambush and the death of Sergeant Iver Quenn Priya. The pirate found the circumstance abnormal as Iver’s corpse was a ways away from his unit. Upon the retrieval of his body an item was found on his person Ignacio assumed that maybe he may have been planning to deliver to someone. A manifest with plausible information that could inspire unwanted conflict upon his domain. Many assumptions ran within Ignacio’s mind due to the lack of information. However, one thing was for certain he did not wish to leave any unwanted loose ends and if necessary the elimination of any critical information that Iver may have wanted to deliver via his journal.
Cutting to brass Ignacio believes that the Glenmire Rebels may have had a hand in the demise of his compatriot. Thus, he placed a high level of urgency towards the group to resolve this predicament he finds himself in. As well as a larger payment to handle all matters that may have been caused by the death of Iver and the possible spreading of that said critical information.
Cybil, leader of the current band of steelhawks, questioned all of Ignacio’s wants and goals with his request verifying the direction the group should use to approach this scenario. After dealing with business the party split and took advantage of the present. Enjoying the tavern drinking the local ale’s and liquors, as well as speaking with the tavern owner Judy. Starting off with casual conversation building rapport, before asking about plausible individuals heading towards Vern’s Hollows and general info regarding how long of a distance this location which Ignacio pointed out would end up being. After all, we needed to reach the crypt where Iver’s corpse was delivered as well as handle his sister who was holding onto his final possessions. We needed to know how many supplies would be needed for this trip, luckily Judy said it wasn’t more than a few hours journey from here. With a few drinks in our bellies and a ready for all attitude we ventured towards the northern gates. Nico, otherwise known as me, the talented kenku who was following his fellow steelhawks, noticed a shop along the way and quickly grabbed a few extra healing potions just in case
Just as the party moved along the vegetation and roads toward Vern’s Hollow a couple of members spotted some movement within the foliage. Elwyn, our party's wizard, sent his owl ahead to scout, but somehow accidentally bumped into an elephant attempting to pass through. Immediately all the members reacted and readied themselves as Earl and leader both let out a shout asking the members to wait. The fastest of the bunch took their position and prepared for the worst, luckily Earl the crazy sorcerer used his magic and began to speak with the gentle giants. To his surprise the elephants were dumber than initially thought. After some back and forth Earl was able to convince the elephants that the party meant no harm and were actually friendly and only meant to pass through just like they were.
Accepting Earl's words the closest elephant warned him of a danger lurking nearby. This ended up in the parties favor as a temporary truce was set in place. The elephants agreed to eliminate the one true threat for both their and the party's future safety. A saber tooth tiger that happened to be hidden not far away, but also not well enough to escape the elephant's sight. With advantage in numbers and no longer holding the element of surprise the Tiger had little to no chance. With the first passing sequence of attacks the tiger was already prone and entering near critical condition. I admit even i would have died if i was in the tigers position, but somehow the tiger mustered up its remaining strength and began retreating or so i thought. As it suddenly turned around as if reading to pounce, but Elwyn was faster riding his lion as it attempted to move away he managed to intercept. With a heavy “RAWR” Elywn’s lion managed to frighten the poor tiger right before it died. One attack after the next landed upon its helpless hide, and so it layed dead there. It was the first time I have ever killed such a beast. My father told me of hunting before, but I never thought I would have the pleasure of such leisure activities while working. So after slaying the beast I decided to skin it and collect the creature's fangs, while Earl collected one of the legs for a later hearty meal.
So with the tiger dead, the elephants and the party continued on both their ways, it was not long after A town came into view just beyond the foliage it was Vern’s Hollow. Taking into note everyone's specialties Cybil let Earl take lead with his charismatic nature. Elwyn decidedly stayed alert of the surroundings with his owl keeping circling around the town watching for suspicious individuals. While his lion wandered about siping upon the passing river and marking its territory. The villagers looked upon us with curious gazes, meanwhile we were attempting our best to remain low key and not attract too much attention. However, Elywn’s lion roaming from one area to the next while staying pretty close to the group did not help much in that aspect. So I hoped that the townsfolk would rather remember the lion better than they would our band of individuals, but Earl, amused by the towns folks' gazes became a lil mischievous. At the beginning he assured everyone of why we were here calming the people, and the moment they let their guard down Earl decidedly frightened one of the townsfolk for his personal merriment. A guarantee that that bloke will probably not forget Earl’s face. It did not take long for us to arrive at the crypt where we were greeted by a seer who asked for the purpose behind our visit. For why is there a reason to visit the place where the dead come to rest, if not for one deceased, but the seer has never seen us before today. Earl explained the reasoning behind our arrival to this humble little town and leveraged the Steelhawk name to give further validation to his claims of investigation. Seer of the crypt Harwin having personally received Iver’s body explained to us the condition in which it arrived. Illustrating the multiple slash wounds upon Iver’s body.
She let us know that her brother specifically warned her to hide the contents of his book and only to reveal them when absolutely necessary or when she believed it came time to reveal the journal. Pyria explained that she needed time to collect her thoughts, and will reveal the book to the party come morning. With everything connected and the brothers warning, the implications of what the book may hold began to come to question. That all Ignacio said may have been true and that the book may hold more value than initially believed. That the book could be a cause for great concern, but should we steal the book or wait? There may be great risk in waiting, but should we burn bridges with Pyria out of superstition, and plain assumptions? There was lots to think about and even more to consider before the day came to an end.
After a lengthy interaction Pyria encouraged the party to rest at the inn as it is also the place where she is keeping the book hidden.
Exiting the crypt Pyria led everyone to the inn where she was currently living. A humble establishment within Vern’s hollow, it was within the inn that the party noticed the owner had an oddly similar resemblance to Judy. It was when Cybil and Earl approached the bar that they discovered she is the twin of the first Judy they encountered from Eastern Crank. A funny little coincidence for the party as it seemed that the hospitality business ran within the family and who knew how larger the family maybe. However, time was not a Commodity for us, I could hear the clock clicking every passing minute, “Tick tock tick tock”….
We needed to complete the task, tie any loose ends, and minimize the implications of what this critical information may cause, but first came dealing with this grieving sister who insisted on an early night's rest before anything.
We had nothing to go on and placing our full trust in Pyria did not seem very logical. So we decided to steal the book to be on the safe side, while also offering protection to Pyria should anything come to pass.
So began the official action of the party as we quickly began delegating tasks, splitting into two main groups one to distract Pyria and one to focus on finding the Notorious book. Me or if i need to remind you Nico the sharpshooter and Pau my roguish friend we took it upon ourselves to retrieve the book as sneaking around was one of our specialties. Elwyn the ever precarious wanted to minimize all chances of failure so he casted invisibility upon the us. As soon as the magic started having effect we quickly made our way to the second floor where all available rooms were located.
Earl and Cybil took the position of keeping Pyria occupied long enough for the two thieves, us, to complete our assigned task. Leading the disheartened young lass to the bar for drinks and a heart to heart, our leader Cybil and charismatic fellow Earl drew her attention. Bringing about the subject of her brother into play to keep her invested. With a swing of his finger Earl manifested his magic to bring about whispers, audible illusions to convince the disheartened lady Pyria to drink one cup after another falling deeper and deeper into intoxication. The ghastly whisper of her deceased brother asking for vengeance for his death. Luckily with Earl’s natural talent at manipulating the heart of the poor maiden we had more than enough time to sneak into every single room searching them high and low. It was at the final door where I discovered Pyria’s room. After a thorough investigation of the room I noticed a lump on the animal rug. The thick pelt hid the book pretty well but it did not escape my gaze, with a whistle I attracted Pau over to tell him the task was complete. With both of us working together, we left the room exactly as it was before locking the door and returning to the others.
As we headed down the stairs we noticed a half elf was watching the others taking notes while they continued talking with Pyria. It was not until Pyria made her exit partially intoxicated that the half elf quickly stood up and approached Lauyrn the hardy Cleric who was keeping tabs of the surroundings for any suspicious behavior.
“You came for the book, haven't you? I was moved to tears reading it for the first time.”
The last thing we hoped for came to be, but we still knew nothing of what was read. Laulryn with concern quickly began to question the weird elf. Elyrwn seeing the suspicious individual approaching one of his compatriots sent his owl to remain close, casting read thoughts through his companion. As the conversation continued on.
Laulryn rebutted:Elf.”Forgive me, I completely forgot to introduce myself. I am Elvern, a bard and a teller of the truth. I don't understand why there is more to investigate, it was obviously just a random ambush, not everything has to have a reason. I get people trying to tie this to some unknown rebel group but to be honest it just looks like a regular ambush to me. With you and me having read Iver’s text and noticing your plausible interest in his story I wanted to introduce myself and also get some feedback from a fellow reader.” Shuffling through his bag Elvern pulled out a piece of parchment mostly empty holding only a few lines. A look of pride surfacing his face Laulryn read each word carefully it was the start of a ballad. “What book are you talking about?”
Elf: “Oh come on i saw you talking to Pyria why else would you follow her here if not for the book. You are obviously not from around here and I heard you guys talking about the book.”
“(internal thoughts) why is she asking about the book, have they not read the book yet? They must know otherwise why would they be speaking so passionately of Iver, Pyria also seems to be close to them.”
Laulryn decided to follow a more direct approach.
“Your right we came here to investigate the Death of Sergeant Iver, and also to check his journal for any clues behind his death. But who are you even?”
Elf: ”Forgive me, I completely forgot to introduce myself. I am Elvern, a bard and a teller of the truth. I don't understand why there is more to investigate, it was obviously just a random ambush, not everything has to have a reason. I get people trying to tie this to some unknown rebel group but to be honest it just looks like a regular ambush to me. With you and me having read Iver’s text and noticing your plausible interest in his story I wanted to introduce myself and also get some feedback from a fellow reader.”
Shuffling through his bag Elvern pulled out a piece of parchment mostly empty holding only a few lines. A look of pride surfacing his face Laulryn read each word carefully it was the start of a ballad.
Looking at the mention of the Steelhawks and Glenmire, Laulryn began to worry that maybe the book holds something that will put their current position in danger. Wanting to gather more information from this one curious bard. She revealed her and the parties identities as Steelhawks, immediately catching Elverns interest.
(internal thoughts) Oh my lord to think i’ll actually be able to see the fabled steelhawks in person and even have a chance to talk to one. How lucky am I today.
Using the newfound interest to her leverage Laulyrn explained to Elvern how he must not release his work as it may put the group's investigation to a halt due to the unwanted attention. Not wanting to be a hindrance to the deserving justice of Pyria, Elvern agreed to hold his tongue on what he read for a few days long enough for the investigation to hopefully come to an end.
Having somewhat dealt with the laxed bard, the group purchased some private rooms for the night and convened towards the room to read the book and discuss what the next steps should be.
Cybil, Pau, and I decided to investigate the book while the others either went outside to get some fresh air, rested up or kept watch outside of the rooms just in case. The journal did not hold the type of information that we originally expected, it was a field journal. Within one of the pages there was a direct encounter of the steel hawks, during a time where they arrived at Glenmire bringing supplies to its people. A statement which placed the Steelhawks in a conflicting position where Ignacio may catch our involvement with Hugo, his rival pirate captain.
Although the info was not critical enough to cause large ripples to Ignacio’s position it could easily end all future interaction between the steelhawks and his-self. So the group began speaking of ways to cover the Steelhawks involvement within Gelmire. If destroying the evidence was enough and what about the bard. How to handle the situation Laulryn did not wish to further trouble the grieving sister, earl believed an accidental fire with the death of the bard and the destruction of the book would be a possible solution. Everyone agreed that the fire would only bring more attention to the group and raise suspicion on their involvement. I wanted to put my forgery skills to use by duplicating the journal and leaving a fake replica with the sister then only changing the Steelhawks involvement in Glenmire, but to who or which organization. Hours went by and I nearly finished my work. Only one thing was left, a name to replace the Steelhawks mark. During this time many names came up, even old groups and past encounters, but nothing remained for certain. After some thoughts Cybil thought what if we messed with both major powers Hugo and Ignacio and bring in a third major power. Someone who is currently retired, the previous pirate captain Devotie. Maybe the selfless act of this unlikely individual would influence a change within both Hugo and Ignacio at least this was the intention. After the duplicate was completed all that was needed was placing this fake where the original was located and then to deal with the second variable, the Half elf.
The main Ideas circling around at the time was death, kidnapping, recruiting, and using coercion. After an even longer debate about what to do with the elf, ideas began surfacing one after another about how each concept could be viable. The leader decided that maybe the party can have a personal confidant within this region if only the elf agreed to relinquish his ballad and drop the steelhawks involvement. In exchange we would be willing to let him join our travel and tell our stories becoming a cog within the giant machine that is the large organization of the steel hawks. Having decided what to do with the elf the group began the second phase of retrieving the book and that is leaving the fake behind to remove all suspicion of the group stealing the original. Elwyn once again cast invisibility on me to increase my chances and while Earl followed to save me should I awaken the young lady and well Cybil and Pau followed as back up. Luckily enough, I am me and well I am great at what I do so I managed to do an impeccable job. Sneaking in, leaving the forged book, and exiting without any cause for alarm.
Finally everything was set in place and the group could finally get some much needed rest. The following morning as the group awakened we began moving across the halls. Pyria could hear the commotion outside her room and immediately grabbed the promised book. As she exited her room Pyria approached the group speaking of how happy she was to have been able to meet the selfless people of her brother's book, the Steelhawks, and of how she believes her brother would have been honored to let such people see his words if it could be of use to them.
As a collective attempting to deceive the sisters' memories, we began to question her. “Of course we were honored to receive such compliments, BUT, that the book states nothing of the steelhawks”. Back to me, although my forgery was far from perfect and barely passable in some eyes, I managed to fool Pyria as she flipped to the page mentioning the Steelhawks only to see the name Devotie. Something was not right she swore that the steelhawks were mentioned there. Earl quickly approached the confused lady and spoke of enchantments that may have been used to hide this information and it could have been that the magic hid Devotie’s name with the name of the Steelhawks. That that may be the reason behind why she read mention of steelhawks as a way to hide Devotie’s intervention, but in reality Devotie deserves those compliments not the Steelhawks.
She looked at the page in utter distrust, she was so sure. I even my worst was good enough and she could not tell it was not the same journal, now only the bard was left. Everyone thought it was a done deal little did we know how hard headed and stupid this elf was.
We offered so much but the elf refused to change the key name from his ballad the steelhawks. We gave him dozens upon dozens of reasons to accept, but he refused. It was also here we found out he never even truly read the damned book. He happened to slip a quick glance, one time while passing Pyria as she read tear ridden. We grew so irritated that everyone began contemplating his murder, no individual as stubborn as this fool deserved to live. We warned him of how his ballad will affect us, of how us being affected could lower our reach and endanger others. Cybil even threatened the fool and he refused to listen, if only we were not in the center of the inn and in a more secluded area his death was guaranteed. I guess trying to use the nonviolent approach was the wrong approach for this damned elf.
After a moment of unbound rage we took a deep breath and decided to push our efforts to make Pyria’s fake copy the truth of Iver’s journal and let this elf run free singing his song. For his words will only ever end up be speculations, while Pyria will be the more reliable source with her brother's journal, i mean its a fake but still no one needs to know that.
Unknown: “What are you writing there nico?”
“Nothing just wrapping up some details from my previous mission, guess its time i prepare for my next task, i wonder which group i’ll end up in this time”

Report date: [-----] Clover's POV
Our mission starts in the basement of the Haven Sound Archives, standing in front of the map which showed us the locations of each piece of the Tidecaller was. Before I could even get nosey- Tachanka's sending stone buzzes, picking up to Hugo! He tells us to meet him at "Knock Knock" a tavern-inn located in Port Stratus. And instead of answering Hugo concisely... Tachanka mansplains how sending stones work and uses all 25 words- and more... AND PEOPLE SAY IM STUPID HUH LIKE HUHHHHH??????
Anyway, we get out of the Archives, out of the Enlightened District to go to "Knock Knock". As we enter it's fuckin' bumpin', people are having a good time and hanging out- unlike some places I've been to... Not so bumpin' those places I'll tell ya.
We see Hugo sitting at his table, calling us over to speak with us. We figure out that he sounds a little weary, like he's tryig to gauge our reaction to seeing him. At the moment, I thought Hugo was pretty cool because previous reports from retired Steelhawks mentioned him being very generous and friendly towards us- even rewarding them with a hefty amount of gold! Even if he did lie about the whole Pirate Lord thing with Devotie still being alive and well on Lupa at Dagat, he seemed like a nice guy! And soon, you'll figure out why I no longer trust him
Hugo tell us “Things have been a little... "(he doesn't finish this thought btw), "the revelation could be disconcerting to a few.” And me, being me, I don't question it, though I definitely should've because it might have avoided the whole sheboggle that occured at the end... After saying that omminous message, he says that he has a job for us. Which is kinda what we're known for so YIPEE! (But also non-yipee bc Hugo is NAWT a friend anymore ❌ )
The bartender, Vaegolin, offers us some drinks, most of us pass, but I wanted a cup of earl Grey Before leaving so I asked for one! Since we're friends of Hugo's, the drink is on the house. While I get my drink, Hugo tells the rest of the party our mission.
We're going to bring two carts to Glenmire, a small town that's been forgotten. Hugo says that they don't want to them to be forgotten, which is why he's asked us to bring supplies, food, tools, medicine, and a fragile crate, telling us we shouldn't open it because it's for the head lady, Marla. What she's the head of? I forgot to ask... I assume that she's the head of the little town because we're reporting directly to her and giving her the supplies, but then again- sometimes when I think somethings one thing- it's sometimes wrong. He also tells us not to "linger too long", because they're a shy folk, I shrug it off coz like, I get it. My sister is the same. Hugo offers us a reward, 500GP for the completion of the mission, 250GP now, and 250GP when we get to Glenmire. He basically hand us a purchase order for all the supplies so we can give it to Marla to sign and give us the rest of the money.
Taachanka asks Hugo if there's anyone we need to look out for, anyone that's after Hugo in particular. Hugo tells us that there's probably just some run of the mill bandits, the occasional wild animal here and there, but we know who to look out for, with a grimace he says
"Ugh Ignacio... Not that guy." (LOL)
We also ask if there's a set time frame for the mission. He says no, but the minimum travel time from Port stratus is about two hours to Empanage. And from Empanage is about 2-3 days to Glenmire so we can except to travel that length of time at least.
Vaegolin gives me my tea and all he wants in return is a story because Steelhawks always got interesting stories! I tell him about my name and how I was abandoned as a child by my birth parents and etc etc etc. I won't retell it here because... It's long so yeah!
So after Tachanka covers his wagon with the tarp, we head to Razzles, a familiar establishment to the Steelhawks. Mr. Bale the shopkeeper guy greets us with a smile and asks us what we want to buy. Malakai asks if he has a breast plate and a scimitar +1. Bale says he has both but Malakai doesn't have the funds for buy the weapon, so he just gets the armour instead. BUT ME CLOVER- I mean- I want to buy a weapon too! So I ask if he's got a Rapier +1 and he does! So, with my lovely coin purse, I take the gold out and am now the proud owner of a rapier +1... And then later I realize that it might not be as useful to me as I thought, stupid spells not stacking! OOPSIE LOL!! I just wanna BONK ‼️ people with my rapier! Is that too much to ask!
I ask if he has healing potions but Tachanka stops me bc apparently he has some but I can't buy some for personal use? Okay buddy whatever you say old man..
BOMBASTIC SIDE EYES HIM
We bid farewell to Mr. Bale the shopkeeper guy and head to the docks to depart for Empanage!! We get onto the Steelhawk ship, named the Drunken Lady. The crewmates look at us weird, but to them it's just another day with the Steelhawks- LMAO
Two hours pass and we end up in Wound Docks of Empanage, where aa hissy dock worker greets us. Not like hissy fit- but literally hissing as he speaks. He says: "Are you Hugo'ssssssss?" I almost reply with, "Yesssss" but I refrain because that's fucking rude, and two... I would've burst out laughing right in his face and I don't want to ruin anything LOL. We just nod with a normal "yes" and he says, “Perfect, they are waiting outside the northern gate” in that same hissy voice.
Before we actually head to the docks, Malakai wants to find a blacksmith to sell his armour. So we go and Malakai only gets like... 27GP? Yikes... Tachanka also buys a spyglass, but I don't think he ever used it during the mission. NOW- All our shopping is done so we head to the northern gate to get the carts and escort it to Glenmire.
We're given a simple map to get our way around and Malakai uses his Navigators tools to assist in guiding our way there. So we get in riding formation to protect the cargo in the best possible way and we ride on. We travel for bout half away, it's pretty uneventful. But now it was getting close to night and we were coming into a valley with cliffs about 10 feet high. With my dark vision I had already seen the log right in the path where we were supposed to go. And when we get closer, Malakai notices that it looked like it was intentionally put there, and not just fell on it's own. Which is super sus. Tachanka uses his giant snake to try and push it, but it only budges a little. I get off of Twilight and ask her to help with moving the log, and the two successfully manage to push it out of the way. That's when we hear, “There’s easy coin boys get the cargo” And then we get jumped.
These bandits were pretty tough to get rid of, there was also an assassin that showed up that I couldn't get to until I defeated the scout. But! No one died and the cargo was still intact. Tachanka loads up the dead bodies and we keep going. Okay- I'm going to be real, why the FUCK is Tachanka trying to raise a skeleton army, like WHAT THE HELL?????
Gladiator
Scout
We leave the valley and come into some plains, with a space to the side where we set up camp for the night. Elwynd sets up alarm twice to cover the north and east, Tachanka raised two additional skeletons and set them up around the carts with the command, "If anyone (and he really meant anyone) approaches the party, they open fire." So I offer to take first watch since... I'm the only person who can trance. Which is fine because like I would much rather everyone get their full 6 hours of rest rather than some shitty sleep y'know? I care for Twilight and check my gear in the meantime, but Malakai points something out from the shadows while I'm not paying attention.
Three guys in hoods come out from the west, and the skeletons immediately open fire. Malakai yells at Tachanka to cease fire and get the skeletons to hold so we can see what the three men have to say. Though, I now am able to connect who they side with. But that comes later hehe! Tachanka tries to speak with them but they only ask the same thing,
"You heading east or south?"
Those of us familiar with code speak or whatever, under stand that this isn't just some random question passerby's are asking- it's similar to Thieves' cant and stuff like that, like a set up and what-not. So Malaki looked through the carts and found paper to help with deciphering their words, and replies to them,
"Depends which way the wind's blowing."
"You with the Port Stratus Route?"
"Only if the lantern's lit."
When Malakai replays with that, one of them says, “Tell your boss we’re grateful”. Then they leave the same way they came. We finish the long rest and nothing else happens in the night. We continue our travel and it’s lookin’ like we’re gonna get there in two days! Because we’re so cool and awesome.
We continue on day two, it's pretty uneventful until we come up to a bridge, with a precarious hole right in the centre. The drop into the water isn't too deep but there are somethings swimming in the water we can see. They don't look harmful but it would probably be in our best interest not to interact with it. We take some time to think about how to go about it, but eventually Tachanka just crosses with his snake and wagon and gets across fine, then Chiung, then Elwynd. I just use Twilight to Fey Step across the bridge because I don't need to walk lol.
After a bit, we eventually make it to Glenmire, and holy shit this place is small. My studio is bigger than this place. But I won't say it to their faces because that's mean. I see a lady standing under the tree and I go up to her asking where I can find Marla- and wouldn't you know it, she's Marla! I'm not too shocked bc she looked pretty important. We let her know that we've come with the supplies and Malakai hands her the letter in which she signs and then burns. On the crate that was labeled fragile, has Hugo’s seal on it, and the townsfolk start to unload the items into their warehouse or something. Marla - Head lady She gives us the rest of our payment and encourages us to leave. "They're not a touristy area" I'm paraphrasing but you get it. Elwynd tries to convince Marla to let us stay for the night because we've been travelling for so long and a nice place to rest would be good- but this lady is fucking relentless. We try our best to insight on her words, Elwynd even using detect thoughts in the back to try and see if there's anything- and she really just didn't want us to be there. I try and ask if there’s a temple I can pray at before leaving- but still nothing! Tachanka even shows off his skeleton cart but she doesn’t really react to it. Which a lot of us find strange but we leave regardless.
Hugo's Seal
Three days later after travelling from Glenmire, we’re in Tito’s Tavern in Empanage. We’re all sitting at the bar, resting since it did take us one extra day since we didn’t have the two horses for others to ride on. While we sit, I’m nosey right- So I “overhear” (eavesdrop) on a conversation from a table close by. They say,
“Did you hear, that crew got hit outside the salt flats.”
"They’re saying that Glenmire is becoming a hub for something bigger.”
And even Ignacio is mentioned. I get sus, and squint down at my cup of water. Then, I look at Judy and try to use both my stupidity and cuteness to my advantage- I have no clue if it worked, but Judy tells us this,
“Do you know who Ignacio is? Some of his troops and supplies were hit and left. Coming form Glenmire. They’re fighting back against him.”
Now- This is where my fucking cogs turn, the monkies in my head spin and my neurons fire. And also Malakai got pissed that I even asked about Glenmire. The supplies were for fighting, and supplying an army. Hugo used us to fuel a fight with Ignacio. Those bandits we came in contact with would’ve actually done us a favour if they took our carts. And those three men in the field, were most likely with Glenmire considering that they were wearing the same garments and everything. Malakai starts to drink out of frustration and- I do too. We’ve just helped fire a bigger problem and we’re going to have to fix it one way or another.
We end the night with a drinking game! I’ll spare you the details but I get top three… Heh

Prior Report summary:
In the last episode our heros had rescued Hugos daughter from a mysterious man, they returned to investigate Whiskeys house, and his murder board. Haven Archives and the Tidecaller stood out to them from the markings, but the heroes have difficulties tracking down leads. They confronted Hugo who said he was not the pirate lord, but that it was instead his former captain Devotie, and that Devotie is hiding, likely as the only way to pass the title is to kill the current pirate lord. The heroes decide they need to speak to Devotie, to convince him to either help them accesses the bottom level of the archive using his title, or perhaps to bestow his title upon someone more willing.
Report Start:
Now for todays episode. In the Life shop in town, our good heroes speak with Gemma, the shop owner, as well as doing some shopping among her selection of potions and tattoos. They ask the shop keep for information about Devotie. Gemma describes him as an older but pleasant gentleman, well mannered and well liked, as well as telling our heroes that he is staying at a creepy and largely abandoned church a few hours out of town.
Following this lead, our noble heroes head to the church, seeking the illusive pirate lord in hiding. The church ruins are quite distant from the town, the last flickering light of dusk adding further to the already unnatural eeriness of the ruined building and its grave filled outer yard. Attempting to approach the church does not go well, as before our heroes cross to the church proper, multiple undead burst from the ground to attack!
(2 deathwolfs, a corpsemound, a deathknight, a herald)
T1:
Bombshell and Dover move to intercept a deathwolf, as an orb of hellfire from the undead knight engulf much of the group, and several of its own undead alies. A second deathwolf joins the injured first, creating a frontline against Bombshell and Dover, as Shuck uses his speed to bypass the melee attackers, dashing to engage the undead knight commanding from behind. Hadmar and his summoned devil rain support fire, literally, on the enemies, breaking the front line as he drives one of the deathwolves into retreat. The giant spectral Herald releases a wave of psychic energy, stunning Shuck, and Bombshell, and knocking Hadmar from the sky, his summoned devil helper using the moment of distraction to abandon him and flee back to its home plane. The corpsemound throws itself on the stunned Bombshell, which rouses him, but too late as he is engulfed in wave of rotting and rancid flesh. Dxxytr is startled to action seeing his companion swallowed by the hideous mass, and dives forward, blasting it with weapons and magic, tearing into the hulking mass of dead flesh -
(T2)
Giving bombshell the open he needs to slip free of its grasp, but not quickly enough to save Dover from being overrun by the remaining Deathwolf. The undead knight leaves the stunned Shuck to the wounded deathwolf to feast upon, and moves forwards to support his undead minions. Hadmar brings his intense arcane force to bear against the massive herald, trapping it helpless in the arcane bonds, while Dxxtyr -
(T3)
And Bombshell keeping pouring kinetic punishment in the corpsesmounds rapidly failing bulk. The undead knight, hesitant to directly engage our fierce heroes, circles at a distance, seeking an opportune angle, while condensing his deathly energies looking for an opening to strike. Hadmar takes advantage of its distraction to blindside it with a punishing barrage of eldritch power, tearing into its armor while blasting it back across the church graveyard, isolating it from its undead allies.
The dying corpse mound flails helplessly as Dxxytr sends his bat to swoop up Dovers collapsed and bleeding form, quickly pouring a healing potion down the wounded halfings throat, letting him splutter back to consciousness.
(T4)
Bombshell tears into the corpsemound from quick burrowed tunnels beneath it, leavings its already tattered corporeal form in dire straits, Dover, weak and freshly rescued, attempts to assist from the back of Dxxytrs bat, his ax blows insufficient, but as his strength fails, the ax slipping from his weakened grasp, the gods smile on his brave effort as the simple weight of the ax blade as it drops through the air, cuts into the corpse mound with just enough force to finally end the deathly magics sustaining its existence. The tide seems to be turning and Hardar lays into the deathknight with yet more magical force, but the accursed creature makes the rush at Bombshell, its blighted sword laying the noble warrior low. Dxxytr guides his bat to dart towards the still stunned and prone Shuck, managing to break the psychic hold hold of the Herald, bringing him back to awareness, and into the fight.
(T5)
Dover leaps from the bat, riding the mists to begin whittling at the spellbound Herald with his ax, as the undead knight in an unnatural burst of speed rushes at Hadmar, trying to break the binding magic on its ally. Shuck finally stirring back to awareness, whips out his blades and covered by Dxxytrs iron protector, ignores the Deathwolf that had been slowly gnawing on him, to instead flash across the field at the herald who’s psychic cry held him bound for so long. A single strike of his vengeance sprays its remains across the field of battle, as he cleaves it in two, before turning the remains of his anger on the Deathwolf that had been abusing him while he lay helpless.
Hadmar desperately flees the Deathknight, as its blade seeks his blood, his cries for aid bring it from Dxxytr, who in a wild conflux of magic, succeeds in teleporting him to safety, near the downed Bombshell, the Deathknights attempts to counter his rescue being thwartted by the combine efforts of Hadmar and Dover.
(T6)
Dover moves to protect Hadmar and the still downed Bombshell, as Hadmar uses another healing draght to get the rogue back up, but the Deathknights wrath tears a destructive wave though the tainted cemetery ground with the fury of its approach, the explosive cone of necrotic energy overcoming both Bombshell and Dover once more. Hadmar urgently gets Bombshell back on his feet, as Shuck continues delivering his wrath on the last remaining Deathwolf, leaving the Deathknight standing alone, before following up by darting across the field, and skillfully disarming the knight of its fouled longsword, facing it down in a challenge to hold it at bay, giving the breathing room to the fallen and barely tended now behind him. Dxxtr follows on his bat, his flail smashing at the now disarmed knight, as his iron protector leaps to force yet another precious potion to spare Dover from the everlasting sleep.
(T7)
Bombshell, his feet back under him, lunges for the Deathknight, his skilled blade rapidly working the gaps in the deathknights armor, at last giving the tormented soul its final rest.
-end of combat-
Finally, the cursed church yard silenced, the group heads into the church, picking the lock to gain access. The church looks to have been squatted in, but is empty. There is a note on the alter, assumably from the missing pirate lord. It reads “If you find this, I left, this place is too weird. Find me at my house up the trail.” Hadmar takes some time to clean and show respect to the alter of elements in the church, in hopes the elemental lords the church honors will take notice again of this once consecrated land, and deter undead from taking up here once more after we pass.
After the group takes some time to recover from the tough fight in the relative safety of the churches stone wall, they following the trail up to Devoties apparent residence, a small standard size cabin another hour or two beyond the church.
The party talks to Devotie explaining the situation, which he seemed blithely unaware of, not even knowing himself to still be considered the pirate lord, and with the promise of rum, gains Devoies willing aid to make a return to the archive so they can finally access the archive, and the Tidecaller. Getting him packed up, they return to Fort Stratus.
After watching Devotie and the keeper of archives reunite, and gaining the Pirate Lords permission to enter the bottom layer of the archives, our heroes find that while the Tidecaller is no longer held at the archives, it does have the legend of it, its loss, and perhaps the most likely leads on finding it. Above the empty case where the tide caller would be held, is a plaque denoting its loss, reading “Can control the Sea, The Water Elementals controlled it, The Earth Elementals hated it, They stole it, they broke it, they hid it”. The keeper of the archive then expounds, that 1000s of years ago when great elementals openly walked Karatagan, when Haven Sound was still a part of the mainland, the elementals of earth and water had a great war. The Water elementals ended up using the tidecaller to break Haven Sound from the mainland, cutting off the advance of the earth elementals. The earth elementals, in long held rage, managed to in retribution steal and break the tidecaller, hiding pieces of it scattered across all the continents of Karagatan. She produces a world map, marked with vague possible locations of the various pieces.

As the Steelhawks end their battle with the man and rescue the kids they first decided it was best to have a Heroes' Feast and feed the kids who looked like they haven't eaten at all while they were in captivity. As they were able to calm the kids down a bit and feed them they decided it was time to head to the Tavern where Hugo had awaited there return. Happy to be reunited with his Tomas and Omega Hugo was ecstatic seeing them and tears of happiness had filled his face. He was so happy he went and decided to reward the Steelhawks with 12,000 Gold for all their troubles. Unfortunately though the Steelhawks did have to inform him that the hooded man wiped out the memory of the kids in the past 24 hours and they in fact did not remember anything that happened which would give them any information as to why "the man" kidnapped them. While this was happening the bartender Vaegolin gave the Steelhawks a round of drinks and food on the house but the payment for this was a story of wonders and adventure. Andromeda proceeded to tell the story of the "Three Men and the Genie" in which moved the bartender so well with how Andromeda proceeded to explain the story. After the story was said by Andromeda they had returned to Hugo and the kids and with the help of Sir Malcom and Hollow, they helped Omega remember some things of what happened while she was kidnapped. While she did not get any distinct description of the man she did inform the Steelhawks she was captured because he wanted an item called the Tidecaller and Hugo was the only one who knew about it since he was the pirate leader. But Hugo had no idea what the Tidecaller is and he told them to go to the Archives in order to get more information about it.
As they reach the Archives they go in and spoke with one of the workers there and they had asked about information regarding the Tidecaller. The Curator informed them that information about the Tidecaller was off limits and only available if they had the blessing of the current Pirate Lord. When the Steelhawks mentioned Hugo's name to the curator. The group decided that it was time they spoke with Hugo again because he seemed that he had lied about knowing information about the Tidecaller.
Heading back to the Tavern they confronted Hugo about him lying to them about everything. Hugo pulls the Steelhawks to the backroom and informed them that the Current Pirate Lord Devotie was still alive. Hugo explained that there is only ways for him to be the official pirate lord is to either have the blessing of the Devotie or to have him "Die" or basically just fake his death. The Steelhawks learned that he was alive and well in a land called Lupa at Degat and they were going to speak with him to get him to "fake" his own death or find a way to give Hugo the blessing to be the pirate Lord officially. Hugo told them that they had to speak with a woman named Jeema who knew the whereabouts of Devotie. The Steelhawks headed back to the boat where and on that boat they noticed a boat with a crew getting attacked by a turtle dragon. The Steelhawks acted quickly on this and quickly defeated the Turtle Dragon to save the crew in which the crew thanked them and continued moving forward because the boat they were in was damage really bad and they wanted to get to the port quickly.
Finally After this they arrived in Lupa at Degat and went immediately entered Jemma's shop where they were going to start getting information about Devotie. What information will be found? Tune in on the next episode and see what they find out.

Initial Deployment – Empennage & Port Stratus
Mission began in the town center of Empennage. Received an urgent message from Captain Hugo:
His voice shook—unusual for the man. Whatever had happened, it wasn’t business. It was personal.
Immediate priority: return to Port Stratus. While some within the Guild may question Hugo’s dealings, he has been a personal ally to me. I am not in a position to sway Guild decisions, so I kept my biases to myself. Followed protocol, agreed to return.
Boarded our vessel, set sail. Normal crew duties. Gave Calla permission to take Zzithra to the skies—used Sheena’s spyglass to observe surroundings from the crow’s nest. Journey was uneventful at first. Then the storm rolled in.
Naval Encounter – Serpents & the Storm-Eel:
Waters turned rough. Hostile contact: multiple sea serpents engaged.
*First serpent attacked with a blast of frigid water—nearly knocked operatives overboard.
*Second serpent—a winged variant—boarded the ship. Paralytic gaze incapacitated targets on sight.
*Third hostile: storm empowered eel. Massive. It flew. The storm itself amplified its abilities.
Combat Outcome:
*Eliminated all hostiles.
*Zzithra downed in battle. Revived through ritual post-engagement.
*Sheena butchered the carcasses. Sold materials in Port Stratus for substantial profit.
Investigation – The Kidnappings:
On arrival in Port Stratus, approached by a messenger. Hugo awaited us at Vaegolin’s Tavern.
Hugo:
Daughter Omega abducted from his home.
*No ransom. No demands.
Another child, Thomas, missing—last seen at the markets.
*Omega and Thomas were friends.
*No immediate suspects.
First priority: Hugo’s mansion.
Hugo’s Mansion – Scene of the Crime:
Thor examined front door—no forced entry.
Calla searched for footprints—found nothing.
I scouted perimeter from above—no disturbances on any window frames.

ISHALL-VUNN-RAAKEN-MEENA-NAAL’THUR.

*You may be asking yourself how I know more than I should . Well, I'm magic, now keep reading and don’t question Nico.*

Captain Hugo
Before we leave Port Stratus, Malakai wants to go look for some better armour and maybe a better weapon, and Tachanka wants to buy a tarp to cover his wagon of undead. DON'T ASK- I THINK TACHANKA IS A WEIRDO. We go into the market place, and with Tachanka's brtering skills, he manages to knock some gold off the price of the tarp. Though strange with his bone wagon, he's pretty useful when it comes to that stuff.
Hissing Dock Worker
Gladiator
Tough Boss
Scout
Assassin

"My dear friends, please return at once—something terrible has happened... I... don't know... it is personal. You are dear friends that I can trust. Just get back at once. Please, I beg..."
Fang made first significant discovery:
- Something missing from the house.
- Identified as a family portrait of Hugo and Omega.
Initial theories:
- Thomas could have unknowingly let the abductors in.
- Or… Thomas was taken first, interrogated, and information extracted.
- Or… more disturbingly, a custodial dispute. Hugo’s wife was dead, but what if someone resurrected her? What if she came back for her daughter?
- Confirmed stolen family portrait was taken from here.
- Hugo’s wife buried under the fountain.
- Calla’s plant communion confirmed: grave undisturbed, but someone had been here recently. Jezzebelle attempted to extract intel from a local rabbit. Zzithra promptly ate the witness.
- Both missing children located. Second floor, large room. Omega tied to a chair. Thomas strapped to a table.
- Team A (Sheena, Fang): Break the front door. Create maximum distraction.
- Team B (Jezzebelle, Calla, Thor, myself): Infiltrate through second-story window. Extract the children.
- End Report
- End Report
Calla communed with the plant life:
* They described a tall, thin man.
* Cloaked.
* Seemed friendly at first, but then took Omega against her will.
Followed the lead to Hugo’s old house.
Hugo’s Old House – Secondary Crime Scene
While I secured the perimeter, Jezzebelle infiltrated the building. Reported back:
Assault on the Safehouse – Engaging "The Man":
Jezzebelle formulated a two-pronged strategy:
Combat Report: Phase One: As soon as Team A breached, Jezzebelle teleported inside. Team A attemped to free the children
Below, Sheena and Fang engaged unseen combatants. Heavy impacts, breaking furniture, sounds of struggle.
Upstairs: We pressed hard. He took everything we threw at him. Nothing stopped him. I secured the children—began escape procedure. Lowered them safely down a rope.
Final Exchange:
"The Man" was still standing. Still fighting. Still powerful.
Shena was compromised. He dominated her mind. Calla landed a key spell- Paralyzed him.
The tide was shifting. Suddenly, constructs entered the battle. Golems.
Then, suddenly, he broke free. Cast a spell. And vanished.
Conclusion
Omega and Thomas secured. Mission success.
But who is "The Man"?
He took everything we had. He resisted everything we threw at him. He controlled minds. Overpowered spells. Survived a full-party assault. Then left—completely unscathed. This was not some sorcerer. Not a hired thug.
Whoever we fought today—
He was beyond us.
End Report.

We started the night at the bar, knocking back drinks and soaking in the chaos like it was any other night. The place was packed—laughter, spilled ale, the occasional brawl breaking out in the corner. But we weren’t just there to drink. No, we had business. Serious business. The kind that gets people killed.
The more we drank, the looser lips became. It didn’t take long before we gathered the intel we needed—details about an upcoming shipment, the right contacts, and, most importantly, the best way to send a message. A bomb. A goddamn explosion that would rock the docks and let everyone know the Steelhawks don’t fuck around.
Before heading out, we made a stop at John’s smithery. The old bastard might be gruff, but he knows his craft better than anyone. He had just finished some new pieces for us—reinforced leathers, freshly sharpened blades, and even a few custom surprises. “You break it, you buy it,” he grumbled as he handed out the gear. As if we weren’t about to put every piece of it through hell.
Once night fell, Salvos and Evelynn sent their familiars ahead, silent shadows scouting the fort. They mapped out the guard patrols, noted the weak spots, and we finalized our plan. We moved in, sticking to the shadows, our boots barely making a sound against the damp earth. The fort loomed over us like a goddamn monster, but we weren’t afraid. We were the monsters tonight.
With ropes in hand, we scaled the wall, moving like ghosts. Before going over, we split into two groups. Yar, Shena, and Evelynn were the stealth team—they went in first, clearing the way while the rest of us hung back, waiting for the signal.
Getting inside? Easy. Too fucking easy. It was almost like they wanted to be hit. The bomb was planted. The fuse was set. And then, just like that, the whole place went to hell.
We should’ve known the escape would be the hard part. The second the first explosion rocked the docks, the alarms blared, and every bastard with a blade came swarming like hornets. We ran, we fought, we bled. The walls we climbed so easily before now felt like death traps, guards cutting off every exit. We lost track of each other in the chaos, every moment a desperate scramble to stay alive.
John’s gear saved our asses more than once. His reinforced leathers turned what should have been fatal strikes into deep bruises. His blades cut through guards like a butcher through meat. We might have been reckless, but at least we were well-equipped for the madness.
By the time we made it out, we were barely standing. Bloodied, breathless, and carrying more wounds than we cared to count. But we did it. The ship was gone, the docks were burning, and the Steelhawks left their mark.
We nearly paid for it with our lives. But that’s just another night in this fucked-up world.
It’s hard out here for a Steelhawk.

After entering Whisky’s warehouse, we managed to find a box containing gold and a half-burned map. What I found most interesting, is that the box had a mark that says, “Made by Azuz."
We then left and went into town to gather information on this Azuz. I tried to see if I could gain information through my usual channels, but as expected, Pirates know how to maintain order better than most Noble.
Lucifer decided to play a song to attract a large crowd. He managed to pick one kid out of the bunch. He made the kid an offer to be our tour guide. The boy smiled while holding the coin purse.
The kid took us through a few alleyways and we encountered some Drunken Sailor. they were harmless, even the kid was punishing them around. Lucifer looked like a proud father, it was quite bizarre. Lucifer also took the chance to steal the pirate leader;s ID card.
Moments later, we arrived at an abandoned building, the door was locked but I made quick work of it. When we entered the building we came upon a Laboratory that seemed to be a venture project between Azuz and Whisky.
They seem to have been working on creating or enhancing Elementals. Surely enough, we were attacked by these Enhanced Elementals and we managed to pull through. We found a few magic items, a Ring of protection and another box made by Azuz.
To our surprise, the Boy knew who Azuz was. He’s a well known Artisan. We had to pay him again to convince him to take us to his shop.
After arriving at his shop, we positioned ourselves in both the entrance and the back exit to make sure Azuz didn’t make a break for it. It took a bit of convincing, but we managed to convince him.
He told us of a house in the outskirts that belonged to Whisky. We entered through the front, Thalor tried to open the front door with the key he found, and used it to open the front door. He did succeeded, but the door was booby trapped.
Thalor managed to effortlessly dogged the volley of arrows, the others not so much. Thankfully they only got minor injuries. We then entered and investigated the place. We managed to find a few magical items, such as a Bag of Holding, Cloak of Protection, 3 Greater Healing Potions, and 7200 gold.
Once we collected the items in question, we Zalir found the study, and there he found a board, linking all of us in some sort of conspiracy. The names marked on the board were Hugo, Ignacio and someone Whisky referred to as “The Man” and an artifact called "The TideCaller", that one concerns me more.
While we were speculating, the two Sending Stones that Hugo & Ignacio gave us started ringing. Lucifer answered and they both offered us a new job.
Whatever these jobs are entail, in the end we will have to pick a side in this little cold war.

They wake him up but before they could get any useful information he chokes on his own blood and dies from the many critical wounds he had. Kazuma then sought it best to check his belongings and they found a special key and a letter saying "The house must stay hidden, no loose ends, the key has to return to Empennage. The steelhawks sought it best to return to Empennage and they go on the boat and they go back to the town
While they were on their journey to the town, Jared went to the crows nest and realized something in the water and they encountered two jelly like creatures that attacked the boat but the Steelhawks easily brought them down with no issues and proceeded to go back to Empennage
The group then decided to head over to the tavern because most of the town information can always be found in a tavern.
Ra'zuul first spoke with the barmaid and mistook her for a man but immediately was able to warm up to her by complementing her and everything seemed to be working well as they got information saying the key would work somewhere in the warehouse district but then once she found out that the key belonged to whiskey she immediately lost interest in Ra'zuul and lost interest in him and walked away. Realizing what happened and made sure he was not near Ra'zuul, Kazuma went to Judy the bar maid and convinced her that whiskey was dead and he would not be a problem and with a bit of a bribe, Judy informed him that Grant who was sitting by himself is a worker of the warehouse district and he would be able to speak to you more about the key and where it would be. Kazuma and Ra'zuul went to Grant and with a bit of a bribe they convinced him to bring the Steelhawks to where the warehouse would be located. The group went ahead and headed over to the warehouse.
The Steelhawks got to the warehouse and with the swift use of his thieves tools, Kazuma was able to open the door completely with no issues but then they were ambushed they were ambushed by a band of thieves. The thieves demanded the steelhawks to give them the key to the warehouse. The steelhawks refused and they all engaged in battle.
The bandits went down fairly easy and Paster Veto took his bludgeoning weapon and beat the bandit leader to knock him out
They interrogated the bandit leader to get any information but they realized that the bandit leader didn't know any information and pastor veto took his pistol and decided to end him and the group moved on The group went in the warehouse completely abandoned and found 2 items in there. One of them is an box saying made by Azuz and another item which was under a floor board with a map with part of Empennage highlighted around center tick. The group now has two options to go for their investigation. Find out who this Azuz character is or go to where the highlighted area of the map. The journey continues on in the following episode.

Knock Knocks Tavern: A Well-Earned Break (or So I Thought):
We started in the best tavern in the Siren’s Sound—Knock Knocks Tavern. Maybe I’m biased since I’m from here, but hey, it’s got good vibes, great mead, and Captain Hugo covering the drinks. After the recent ordeal clearing a cave for Hugo, I figured my boys (Larry, Moe, Harry, and Curly) deserved a treat, so I got them mugs of mead.
Everything seemed normal—until Gunny’s sending stones started buzzing. The static was a little unsettling, but then we heard something garbled: “Alive… back at the hollow… plan… too late to stop.” The word “Hollow” stood out—an abandoned lighthouse we’d heard about.
Captain Hugo waved us off, saying he didn’t need anything else today. With nothing pressing, we figured we’d check out this lighthouse. But first, the others went shopping because apparently, Steelhawks roll in gold. I wouldn’t know; I just make do with rocks and wit.
The Woods: Big Beasts and Bigger Rocks
On our way to the lighthouse, the woods decided to make things interesting. We got jumped by a giant crocodile and a giant ape. Now, I respect a good ape, but this one was throwing rocks that made my boys’ throws look like pebbles. Still, Larry, Moe, Harry, and Curly gave it their all. They may have been intimidated, but they didn’t back down.
After some effort (and a few dents in the ground), we took the beasts down. A shame, really. Taming them would’ve been a nice twist, but they didn’t seem the type to play nice.
Order to ring the bells. Sure enough, a hidden staircase opened in the center of the room. Down we went.
The Lighthouse: Ghosts and Flying Elephants
As we approached the lighthouse, we had to navigate a long, windy cliffside path. Figures were moving near the entrance, so me and Yar went ahead to scout. Yar turned into a grasshopper—which, as an insectoid, felt a little... weird—but he climbed onto my shoulder as I scaled the path. Turns out the figures were ghosts, muttering about a gear and something turning. Spooky stuff.
I signaled to Lil Miss Mojo to fly over on her bird, Mr. Toothyface, and pass the word to the rest of the crew. They got creative—piling onto Gwent’s elephant and force-feeding it a potion of fly. The sight of a flying elephant sneaking low along the cliffs? Absolutely priceless.
We regrouped at the top of the lighthouse and found a way in.
The Bells and the Poem:
Inside, we dropped about 30 feet into a room with four bells labeled Sail, Dusk, Tide, Storm, and Dawn. On the wall was a poem:
“At sea we sail from light to dark
Dawn greets the wave
Tides pull the mark
Storms rise then dusk bids farewell.”
Dawn greets the wave
Tides pull the mark
Storms rise then dusk bids farewell.”
The brainy types—Elara, Gunny, and Fang—figured it was a puzzle. After some head-scratching, they worked out the right order to ring the bells. Sure enough, a hidden staircase opened in the center of the room. Down we went.
Whiskey and the Gears
At the bottom, we ran into Whiskey, a spell-casting cat we fought in the past. He wasn’t happy to see us, yelling about how we were messing things up and how the gears couldn’t stop turning. When we asked why, he got cagey, muttering about some mysterious “He” and bad things happening if the gears stopped.
Fang suggested breaking the gears, which sent Whiskey over the edge. With a spark of magic, he summoned weird robot creatures, and the fight was on.
The Fight: Losses and Lessons
The metal bastards went straight for my apes, and Curly and Harry didn’t make it. Larry and Moe went berserk, tearing into the robots with everything they had. The rest of the team joined in, and we managed to subdue Whiskey after almost killing him. He begged for his life, so I gave him a warning shot—just a hit to the shoulder to show him it could’ve been worse.
Gunny used his tools to disable the weird glowing device attached to the gears. Whatever it was, it had been causing the sending stones to go haywire. With the fight over and the device dealt with, we tied up Whiskey to interrogate him.
Final Thoughts
This session had it all—flying elephants, murderous robots, and a cat with too many secrets. Losing Curly and Harry hit hard, but I’ll have them back soon enough. For now, we’ve got Whiskey in custody and a mess of questions about what these gears are doing and who this mysterious “He” is.

The party, consisting of Tik’chaa, Yar, Shupin, Hollow, Lil Miss Mojo, and Reinhard von Astrea, arrived at Haven Sound port—often referred to as the "official unofficial capital." Most of the party members hadn't seen civilization for months, and their first priority was to indulge in a shopping spree. The group spent roughly an hour acquiring various items and equipment to prepare for their upcoming adventure
After completing their shopping, the party returned to a local pub, where they encountered Hugo, who was already several drinks in. Hugo shared information about a cave system located south of their current location on the cliffs, rumored to contain treasure and possibly some dangerous monsters.
The Cave Encounter:
Upon reaching the cave within a few minutes of exploring the party came across a chest, suspicious of the chest Tik’chaa sent Moe, their animal companion, to investigate a chest inside. To the group's dismay, the chest turned out to be a Gold Mimic, and Moe was killed almost instantly. The party quickly avenged Moe, launching a series of powerful attacks. Shupin, Hollow, Larry, and Harry dealt with the mimic efficiently, with Larry and Harry delivering the final blow by throwing a rock directly into its eye.
While the mimic was being dealt with, a giant badger began to emerge from behind. However, the party swiftly dispatched the badger, with Reinhard, Yar, and Lil Miss Mojo taking the lead in the fight.
Deeper in the Cave
The party continued deeper into the cave system and eventually came across a golden chest in the southern part of the cavern. They then made their way west, where they discovered a large body of water within the cave. A dragon turtle was spotted within the water, and Hollow, with Tik’chaa’s assistance and support from the monkeys, quickly neutralized the creature.
Feeling confident after their victory, Hollow cast a 6th-level Guiding Bolt on the nearly dead wastrillith near foolishly wasting his spell slot in the process.
As the party advanced, Hollow spotted a giant worm about 70 feet in the distance. He pointed it out to the group, and they began to move toward it. However, before they could reach the creature, they were ambushed by a hidden enemy who cast Fireball, injuring several members of the party.
The Jabberwock and the Battle with Whiskey
The worm, now agitated, swallowed Shupin pulling him into its gullet. Meanwhile, a Jabberwock appeared from the south, attacking Tik’chaa and his monkeys. The Jabberwock, a fearsome creature, was burbling to itself causing confusion around some of the party members as it lashed out at the group.
The true source of the danger, however, became apparent when a mysterious caster named Whiskey appeared. Whiskey used a Dominate Person spell on Reinhard, taking control of him and causing chaos within the group. In an attempt to free Reinhard, Hollow cast Twilight Sanctuary—hoping to break the domination. However, this maneuver backfired when Hollow, in a desperate bid to help Reinhard, positioned himself within the range of the Jabberwock’s aura, confusing both himself while allowing Reinhard to break free from the charm.
Before Hollow could fully succeed in freeing Reinhard, the knight struck Hollow with his longsword and tried to flee. However, Reinhard was eventually released from the domination before he could escape completely.
As the battle raged on, the Jabberwock's flapping wings killed all of Tik’chaa's monkeys, leaving the party to face the creature and Whiskey with fewer allies than before.
However with some nasty damage dealt to it by Reinhardt who was no longer charmed the jabberwock had burbled for the last time.
Shupin already ahead of the party chased down the wizard whiskey as he attempted to flee, what sounded like intense growling followed by hisssing and what sounded like a vicious fight shupin emerged from around the corner

I stay up all night, watchin’ in case he sneaks away. Morning come, and I don’t know what room others in, so… BOOM! My “good morning” wake ‘em all real quick. Hehehe.
Followin’ the Man:
We go tail him through streets. Lucifer gets bumped by big drunk belly-man who wanna fight. I ready for big trouble. But Lucifer make him all chummy-chum, and fat guy forgets about me talkin’ from background. Pfft, fat man not watch his coin pouch – easy snatch for ol’ Grumbletick! Hehehe.
Big Mansion Sneakin’:
Follow man to big fancy house near lighthouse. Mansion real fancy, too big for goblins. Saugis, me, we sneak up to window, peek. See some folks inside at table, but none look important, just table-sitters.
So, we make plan! Lucifer knock on front door, talkin’ all sweet, while I go round back. I make Net-Fall Trap at backdoor, real smart idea. After few minutes waitin’, me get bored, so I dig Pit-Fall Trap! Make pit big, real good hide too. Fifteen minutes go by, me almost sleep!
Lucifer’s Smooth Talk and Grumbletick’s Traps:
Lucifer talk his way in, play music too. I so bored, I build ladder, climb up to window thinkin' I break in…but room full of folks, so I climb down. Boredom make goblin go crazy, so I keep buildin’ traps around pit – bear traps, ball bearings, beautiful! It make Ankle Shankers proud, truly.
Then, basement window opens – it Bardock! He say, “C’mon, Grumbletick!” So I follow, grumblin’ cause had to leave traps, but it alright.
Fancy Magic Door Puzzle Time:
Downstairs we see fancy door with symbols sneaky folks use. Find magic book give us answer to puzzle. We go in, Lucifer say he do all talkin’. Fine by me, I not fan of people chat.
Lucifer find Captain Ignacio. Say we wanna help take down Captain Hugo. He spin tale ‘bout Hugo ruin’ reputation, Ignacio buy it. He make deal with Lucifer, give him Sending Stone to keep touch. Real fancy stone, me think goblins should use more stones like this.
Grumbletick’s Grand Double-Double-Cross Plan:
We leave, but me real excited. We double-cross double-crossed! Now we like quadruple agents! Grumbletick big brain feelin’ smart. I say maybe we tell Hugo, but others think we bump Hugo off for Ignacio to make him owe us. I say no, cause Hugo goblin, me goblin, so goblin loyalty. Vote is close, but plan is to play Hugo.
We go to inn where Hugo stays. Tell him Ignacio not like him, that we “pretend join Ignacio.” Hugo get suspicious of Lucifer, but Lucifer too good talker, so Hugo think we truly quadruple agents! Maybe we fool both, maybe one betray other – either way, goblin way!

We began by settling the tab at the Knock Knocks Tavern after defaeted a band of theives attacking Capt. Huog's home. The party of myself, Bardock, Admiral Jerbeen, Andronicus, Manipulare, and Shuck set sail on board the Drunken Lady to intercept an intel drop with the handlers of the bandits that attacked Capt Hugo and his men. All we know is that within the city we are to find a circle of barrells with a dot in the middle. Nothing like trying to find a group of barrels arranged in a specific way in a port town. This needle in that haystack.
Before we leave port however, Andronicus purchased a miniture grappling hook. (this is important later)
After a couple of hours on the high seas I spot on the horizon a small vessel bearing down on the Drunken Lady from the bow and another approaching from the starboard side. Capt Hugo, and Admiral Jarbeen call the party and crew to their battle stations and prepare for a fight.
The two enemy vessels attack and we return fire from our ballistas and Mangonels. Shuck climbs on to the bow of the ship and hurls his returning Javlin. and then We fire our ships weapons. After a couple of errant shots we do strike both attacking vessels and they begin to take on water.
Haveing noticed that the ships will both be at the bottom of the ocean Grave Digger uses the Grappling hook (told you it would be important) to board the enemy vessel off the starboard side. When he reaches the other vessel he clouds the remainin enemy crew with darkness and he gives the attackers a chance to avoid their watery graves and serve Capt Hugo and Adm Jarbeen on the drunken lady.
Seeing that their options are death or servitude the striking yet hardened woman pirate refuses Grave Digger's offer and commits her and her crew to sleep eternally in Davy Jones Locker (I have heard pirates say that when refering to dying on the seas) Before the ship completly sinks Grave Digger grapples the woman pirate and saves her from the depths below. Grave Digger brings her back to the ship and the other Steelehawks put her in shackles and take her to a makeshift Brig on board the Drunken Lady.
In an effort to dispel any scuttlebut (again pirate talk for gossip) Grave Digger was working with his limited understanding of Maritime law, customs, and coutrouses. If a ship is sinking whether hostile, or not the moment the vessel is in peril the law to preserve the remaing lives is the duty of those still sailing above the horizion.
[br We reach the docks and debark to find out clandestine drop location to stake out and seek who is seeking to tarnish the well sullied reputation of Capt Hugo. I mean seriouls what kind of "dirt" could you gleam when regarding a Pirate Captain? Any way we forge some evidence of Captain Hugo to describe a corrupt pirate captian that missapropriates booty for personal enrichment. Hardly the scandle when you consider the vile and murderous actions we just recently participated in but if this is what our enemies are seeking then who are we to deny that?
We watch, what we beleive to be the drop site. We place the forged intel into the middle barral (the dot) and keep an eye for anyone interacting with the barrel. Eventually a young boy approaches. He opens the barral, sees our bogus blackmail. The agent takes the documents and the leaves.
We begin to trail this agent into a local Inn. Grave Digger checks the barrell before his pursuit and finds a small pouch inside. He takes it and then follows stealthily to the Inn.
Once inside Manipular moves up to the agent's room. He opens and begins to decive the youngster about his role, their role, and potential advancement within the crimanal organization. I was able to eaves drop and it was quite impressive to say the least.
In summery, there is a large network of conected, well trained, and well equiped group that have an axe to grind in regards to our Reptilian Crew Captain. As a result of our partnership with Capt Hugo and his crew the Steelehawk Int Adventures ofr Hire may need to enusre that we do not become a part of there enemies list. Or maybe that is exasctly what is needed.

Mission Report: Barbeku and the Case of the Crashing Captain’s Manor
So, we made our way to Port Stratus aboard the fine ship The Drunken Lady. I, Barbeku the Artizard, joined Sir Jerbeen (Hexadin), Jezzebelle (Druid/Cleric), Frost (Barbarian), Shuck (Fighter), and Elara (Wizard) for what we thought would be a simple recon mission to kill some time and maybe grab a good meal while HQ’s docks are under construction. But “simple” didn’t last long.
First stop: the local tavern. Good spot to warm up. Jezzebelle went all-in on the food orders, so the rest of us figured, hey, let’s go with that. The owner, Vaegolin, was polite enough, though he seemed a bit too curious for his own good. Tried prying into our stories, and Jezzebelle set him straight, mentioning that back where we’re from, storytelling to strangers isn’t exactly encouraged.
Then things got interesting. Shuck starts this intense staring match with an unusually large goblin—Captain Hugo, as he calls himself, and apparently the one in charge around these parts. After some quick banter, I asked if there was any way the Steelhawks could lend a hand. Hugo thought about it, said he had nothing at the moment, but wanted to talk about building a connection. Sounds like we’re moving up in the world.
So, off we went to his manor for this little chat, only to find his place had been ransacked. Hugo’s office looked like a hurricane hit it, but here’s the weird part: nothing was taken. We noticed tracks outside an open window, leading to both the sewers and the woods. Splitting up seemed like a bad idea, so we followed the trail down into the sewer.
Cue the rats—giant ones, of course, because regular rats would be too easy, right? A few quick blasts, and the sewer was clear. Hugo seemed impressed, though it was just rats, after all. We followed the trail out to the river and into the woods, where we finally found what we were looking for: a camp, right on the edge of a cliff.
With a swift ambush, we took down the camp’s inhabitants, leaving one alive: Eldrin. Turns out she and her group were hired to make Hugo look bad. Some fellow named Thalric from Vistaridge had set up the whole operation, including a drop-off point marked by barrels arranged like the letter “O” at the docks.
Naturally, our next move is to plant a message at this drop-off and see who bites. Seems like we might be onto something bigger here. And if things don’t work out? Well, there’s always fire.

Hello. I is Munster. I write this so we remember what happen, okay? Okay.
We go to see big boss man, Mayor Dresta, in Rouse. But first, bad man, Valestro, make us fight in big arena. Not nice, not fun, but we fight. We win, of course. Beef still angry after that, and when we meet Mayor, Beef tell him all about bad man. Mayor look mad too, and he say, 'Get out!' to bad man. Valestro leave, so we talk more.
Beef say more stuff to Mayor—something about getting proof? Mayor happy! Say he wanted to stop Valestro but needed proof, so yay for Beef. Then Mayor sign paper, and we get it done!
We leave town, go to port. Douglas, the port man, need paper. But on way, we see... BIG FIGHT! Huge monkey and HUGE rhino with strange horns. I wanted to watch! It look fun! But no, everyone say, 'Shh! Sneak by!' So we sneak, even though I want popcorn for fight. Sad day for Munster.
We get back to town, then we go shopping. Muenster buy daggers. Many daggers. Also shiny thing for seeing far—spyglass! Very good! After shopping, we go to see Portmaster Joel. He happy! We eat, we drink. Munster very full. Then, we get new ship! Woo! Pay Nathan his share too, nice guy.
Meet new crew! Many human mans and womans. Cane, Gretchen, Spence, Patchy (he Jerbeen like me!), Derek, Bruenor, and Rugner (big human). They seem nice! Then we say, 'Let's take ship swim to capital!' I think, 'We have time before docks done, why not?'
But then... Sea monsters!! Manipulare yell, 'Port side!' I think, 'Port? Is that left or right?' But no time! Monsters come! We fight them good! Two fishy-things, one sea troll, and... five-headed dragon! Gravedigger say, 'Hydra!' But I say, 'Big, scary dragon with many heads!' Crew use big crossbow—no, balista—very cool.
I throw daggers, kill troll. Easy peasy. Then, me do something cool. I run across ship, throw javelin at big dragon, then... ZOOM! Teleport on dragon's back! I stab, I stab more! Then—WHAM!—big crossbow bolt hit dragon, kill it. I shout to Beef, 'Stop the swirly wirlies!' (He made water spinny thing—very cool too). I teleport back to ship, like hero!
Then, ship swim more, and we get to Port Stratus. End of mission. Good day, good cheese, good fight."

Mission Brief:The Steelhawks tasked our intrepid band of adventurers with a perilous quest: to procure a ship from the treacherous islands beyond. Armed with glide suits for our descent from headquarters, we set forth into the unknown.
The Journey Begins:
As we glided over the sea, a sudden mishap struck! Azure faltered, losing altitude. Jezzebelle heroically swooped back to assist, yet we all struggled, landing in the water about 800 meters off of a remote beach. Hoo using his own wings for flight went ahead to the beach to scout ahead and see if there might be a boat on the beach. Alas, there was no boat so he headed back to his compatriots.
Aquatic Ambush:
As we navigated the water, two formidable sharks emerged, eager for a meal. Jezzebelle summoned her own shark allies to join the battle! Neririeth, caught in the jaws of one beast, fought back fiercely but missed her mark. Lucian, however, struck true with his hand crossbow, and Tango cast a sleep spell, sending one shark into a slumber.
The tide turned as Jezzebelle’s aquatic minions dismantled the remaining foe. Transforming into a shark herself, she guided the less adept swimmers to safety on the beach, while an orca emerged to claim the sleeping shark, dragging it into the depths. Hoo showed up shortly after the battle was complete and flew over head the rest of the way to the beach.
A New Threat:
Upon reaching the sands, Tango called out, unwittingly rousing two colossal crabs from their lair. Jezzebelle conjured a tempest of sleet, turning the battleground into treacherous terrain. One crab's claw nearly cleaved Hoo in two, grappling him tightly. Tango, with his quick wit, urged the crab to release him. Hoo managed a hasty retreat, though his parting shot missed its mark. We escaped into the dense jungle, leaving the crabs behind.
Meeting Nathan:
At the ravine's edge, we encountered Nathan, a local guide. He shared tales of Port Douglas, a nearby city, and for a share of the sale price, he agreed to lead us to ship dealers.
Crossing the Rickety Bridge:
After a brief respite, we approached a perilous bridge. Tango took the first step but fell 50 feet down the ravine, saved only by a feather fall spell. Lucian attempted next, miss-stepping but using misty step to rejoin the group. Neririeth glided across effortlessly, while Azure scrutinized the structure. Unfortunately, he too fell, but feather fall spared him as well. Jezzebelle, employing her charm, enlisted Nathan’s aid to safely cross.
Nathan warned us of the dangers ahead, and suspicion about his true nature crept into our minds.
Across the River:
Next, we faced a wide river, 100 feet across. Hoo, bolstered by Jezzebelle's enhancements, ferried party members one by one. Neririeth, opting for a swim, drew the attention of crocodiles but managed to evade their jaws.
After camping on the riverbank, we awoke to a peaceful morning, ready to delve into the heart of Port Douglas.
Port Douglas Awaits:
As we approached town, we passed a dilapidated watchtower, remnants of a fallen government, now overrun by pirate lords. At the docks, a notice caught our eye: a ship for sale at the staggering price of 250,000 gold pieces, with directions to the dockmaster, Joel Reece.
Finding him in a tavern, we revealed our interest. A man at the bar perked up, introducing himself as Joel. He confirmed the ship's price and informed us that we would need a local's endorsement for negotiations.
Nathan stepped forward, vouching for us and hinting at his own financial stake in the deal.
Negotiations:
Joel proposed a deal: the ship could be ours for 20,000 gold pieces if we dealt with the local Rouse bandits who plagued the town and docks. We agreed to this task, learning of the Rouse bandits' misdeeds—murder and mayhem had become their calling cards. In addition we owed him one favor in the future.
With shopping and preparations ahead, our quest now lay within reach. Rouse was but three days’ travel inland, and our adventure had only just begun.
