The Lost Songs of the Bane'ile

A.K.A. Sparrow's Code of the Flock

Long ago, before the final joining, there was a golden age of song in Kantostara when the gods walked among us and the Bane'ile still sang their ancient songs for all to hear. The sacred songs that our wise ancestors kept alive down through the generations to teach us how to create a life of harmony even as we faced life's challenges. And although most of these songs have been lost to the passage of time, we can still remember that they sang of three core values:
  • Sovereignty. The right of all people to choose their own destiny with the freedom to be who they are and do as they wish in so far as it causes no harm to others.

  • Community. The celebration of the interconnectedness of all life which provides each and every individual with the certain knowledge that they are worthy, that they have a place to belong, and will always be given protection and aid by their fellows during times of need.

  • Balance. The peace that prevails when all sing their songs in harmony, no one voice shouting over the others in a cacophony of discordant notes, but each blending harmoniously into the symphony of life.
While we cannot go back to that golden age of song, we can go forward, each doing our part to listen for the whispers of the lost songs of the Bane'ile. We can all weave the values of sovereignty, community, and balance into our present day lives to create sacred songs of our own that our ancestors would be proud of. Then, one day soon, we will once again sing our little galaxy harmoniously into the symphony of life.

Legacy

This manifesto was created by an unknown author sometime after the acquisition wars when the UAG, from the world of Taanruk, took over the interstellar trade routes and solidified their economic domination of the entire galaxy. It became known as The Lost Songs of the Bane'ile and was subsequently adopted by the sparrows, an underground network of rebels who live their lives in defiance of the UAG's regulations. The sparrows refer to it as the code of the flock and use it as a guideline for how to conduct their lives.
