Luboo (Loo-boo)

There was never a dull moment at the Crossroads, but Uri knew it was going to be a long day when his first call was someone frantically screeching about a ferocious luboo running around loose in docking bay three. It took him and four of his security team half the morning to get the huge snarling creature cornered. Just as he was about to stun it, a tiny little woman darted past him yelling, "Don't hurt my baby!"   They all froze in horror, not quite knowing how to prevent her from being torn to shreds. Then, much to their shock, the giant luboo cowered and whimpered when the little woman began to scold it. "Bad Boo Boo! What's the matter with you, scaring the nice men like that? You know you're not supposed to leave the ship." They all stared with their mouths open watching her slip a frilly pink collar over its shaggy head and attach a heavy chain, all while continuing to coo baby talk at the beast.   Uri turned to the man next to him and asked, "Am I hallucinating right now?"   "Not unless the rest of us are too."   Then the woman turned to address Uri. "Mr. Arcgelen, I'm so sorry for any trouble my little Boo Boo has caused. I came as soon as I heard that the little dear had wandered off our ship."   Uri just sputtered for a moment before recovering his wits enough to say, "Lady, I don't even know where to start right now."   He took a step towards her and "little Boo Boo" began to growl, prompting her to chide, "Behave yourself!" And the usually stoic Uri couldn't stop himself from bursting into laughter at the complete absurdity of what he was witnessing.

Description

  A luboo begins its life as a sweet cuddly little mammal with two huge magenta eyes. It walks on four legs, has pointy ears, whiskers and a short tail, and is covered in soft fur that is light grey with irregular splotches of purple. However, upon reaching maturity, the luboo transforms overnight into a huge ferocious beast with sharp claws and wicked teeth ready to destroy anything in its path.

Domestication

  For a time, baby luboos were often sold as pets throughout the Roslexian Sector, but due to the practices of some unscrupulous merchants who failed to inform their customers about the luboos eventual transformation, as well as the destruction caused by mature luboos, the sale of all luboos was banned, even in places like the Crossroads. Of course, there are still some brave souls who manage to procure one anyway. Luboos are quite loyal to the one who feeds and cares for them, and with some training and proper precautions in place, they are amazing guard animals striking terror in the hearts of most everyone.
