City of Song

The City of Song was one of the few permanent settlements on the world of Bane'ile. Located on the great plain of Bo Kaabo, at what was considered to be the center of the world, it was actually more of a shrine than what most would think of as a city, but it was the beating heart of Bane'ile society. Said to have been founded by the god-like beings known as the Singers of Songs at a time before the previous conjunction of Bane'ile's two suns, it was a spiritual place where all of the wandering migratory tribes would come together as one.

Description

  The permanent part of the City of Song was little more than a temple complex consisting of a large circular building surrounded by smaller living quarters inhabited by a population made up of tribal singers and volunteers from each of the tribes whose responsibility it was to maintain the temple and perform the rituals required to honor the ancestors. It also served as a central meeting place for the tribal elders at times when they needed to come together to confer about matters concerning all of the tribes as well as a place to host representatives from other worlds.

Points of Interest

  The thing that really made the City of Song unique was that it only really came to life during the festival of Titi'abule when, practically overnight, it blossomed into a lively metropolis with the temple at its center. At these times, all of the tribes would come together in an explosion of colorful tents and joyous noise to set up camp for the duration of the festival. Goods would be traded, food shared, and alliances renewed. Old friends would be reunited and new friendships forged. People would bring offerings to the temple for the ancestors and leave tokens of remembrance for loved ones who recently traveled beyond the physical plane. Throughout the festival, the great plain of Bo Kaabo would vibrate with song and dance in a huge celebration of everyone coming together as one. Then, as quickly as it had sprung up, every trace of the lively metropolis would vanish as though it had been nothing more than a mirage leaving only the temple complex still standing.
