The Balance
The Push and Pull, the Ego and Soul - The Balance
Core Alignment: Neutral
Domains: Order, Death, Life, Grave, Nature
The Balance was born of a beautiful gem that naturally twisted and turned between deep crimsons and cerulean blue, in an endless cycle. The being flitted back and forth between young and old, wise and foolish, and many other extremes, just to experience and define them They worked to turn mortality into a unique experience by living at the limits. You can’t learn to be wise, without being a complete fool with time, and a fool cannot be a fool if a wise man doesn’t see the folly.
During the war, the stresses of maintaining their self-control started to show, as larger and larger cracks began to form through the core of their being until the battle of the Spine. It was the internal conflict of compassion for both your enemies and fellow soldiers, and the animosity of a soldier fighting the great battle. It broke the Balance in two, shattered between the red and blue.
The Blast as they separated forced stone and magma up from Kalio’s surface, along with her spine forcing shards up for miles and miles, while in the opposite direction, a deep chasm was formed, where the rains and snows that would fall in subsequent seasons to form the great river. It took weeks for the two halves of the Balance to reform, but when it did, it was as individuals who would become known as the Heart and the Mind.
Although the Balance as a whole has not existed since the First War, worship of the pair together or the ancient combined being is still common in this day and age. The Balance is often invoked in marriages, throughout Kalio is man different ways, such as Ephox’s Silk Belts of Red and Blue, or the Peakeworis tradition to merge pieces of Jagged Chelium that fit together like puzzle pieces. This is due to the fact that partners must balance themselves, their partners, their household, and their lives together. Many Monasteries seek the same understanding of self, that the Balance seemed to have innately in their duality. However, there is one place, where the Balance is never given respect as a whole, and the idea of Balance is sorely missing spiritually. In Alhayat Haya, the Lands of the Great River, the people on either side of the river have been lacking Balance since the War, supposedly as a curse, stemming from the death of the Balance. However, the Curse will break, when both Halves of the Balance, are born across the River from each other.
Core Tenants of the Balance’s Faith
Do not Neglect. Your mind requires as much nourishment as your body. Your Hopes need to be fostered as much as your needs. Your fellows must be cared for, just as much as you care for yourself.
You have duties to your society. You must perform them if you hope to live. In turn, your society must hold its duties to you, the individual, or it will fall to ruin.
Life will always be a challenge. If you must take a life, nurture more to return the loss. If you must ruin a life, seek to redeem it and others, so it does not multiply. If you must bring a life into this world, mourn and honor those souls that paved the way with their loss.
