Niah

Niah of the Abech has had a storied life. Originally from Lyath'Or Niah grew up as part of the Abech family, a family known for its warriors and blacksmiths, as a result Niah learned the art of war and smithing growing up. At the young (For a Drow) age of 41 she left her family and Lyath'Or to wander the world. She explored Kalin for a time until she eventually requested and was granted access to the Schola Magus as a student. She spent several years learning the magical arts, which it turned out she had an aptitude for.   When she had finished her essential magical studies she was singled out by a member of the Schola Custodi and asked to join as an initiate. She gladly accepted and furthered her studies of the magical arts and combat arts. After finishing her training she stayed with the Schola Custodi for several decades, serving the Magus and Custodi well.   Eventually she left the Magus, retiring from Custodi service. She once again wandered until she wound up in Atresa where she joined the well known Guild Hyperios. She was a lowly member of the guild when the Second Virnosian War began. Hyperios was hired by the Atresan government to hunt and capture the necromancer Yankir and his clan in the hills around Atresa due to being suspected of working with Virnos.   The battle with Yankir was fierce, and in the end her and her friend Arnell managed to corner and defeat Yankir before Niah killed him in a bloodlust.   After finishing this task the guild was much weakened from casualties. It would be further weakened as the war continued and the members of Hyperios were called on to serve in the war. Niah in particular fought in the notably vicious Battle of Brittleshin Pass, and was one of the few Atresans to survive the ordeal.   After the war her and Arnell shot up the Hyperios ranks as members died or left. Eventually, the guild was in poor shape after years of decline. The Guildmaster at the time finally gave the reigns of the guild to Arnell, who chose Niah to help him run the guild. It was also around this time that Arnell had his daughter, Emriel, losing his wife in the process. Niah helped raise Emriel with Arnell as they both tried to get the guild on track, eventually coming to see Emriel as if she were her own child.   Fortunes began to shift for the guild over time as more members started to join, including Lindra Thalsor, Tomil Gevrenko, and Ian Kadu. Even Arnell's daughter joined when she came of age, much to Arnell's displeasure and to Niah's pride.   Fortunes quickly backpedaled after a few years as the guild suffered a surprise attack on Castle Hyperios by bandits, which Niah, Lindra, Ian, Tomil, and Arnell barely held off. Worse however was the ambush of the rest of the guild while they were on a job, killing all of the people on the job, including Arnell's daughter.   In a fit of rage Niah hunted down the bandits to the bandit camp with the rest of the guild, and lead a brutal attack on their hide out that left all of the bandits in ashes.   The next year was a quiet one, with Tomil, Niah, Lindra, and Ian doing what jobs they could with the numbers they had to keep money flowing as Arnell mourned.   After a year though opportunity struck with Arnell, due to some interesting circumstances, recruited new members of the guild via conscription to avoid them going to prison after causing a large brawl in the Atresan tavern "Wisp's Sips."   These members are the more well known members of Guild Hyperios who inadvertently played a role in the Third Virnosian War. Including the discovery that Lindra Thalsor was the one who had betrayed the guild and led to the deaths of many of the guild and Arnell's daughter. Lindra would die in The Battle of Castle Hyperios, and the chaos around her plot would lead to Tutiro Cam becoming Primor of Atresa.   After the battle Niah and Arnell gave up their control of the guild to Ian Kadu.   Niah reportedly spent a few years traveling with Sorra after the Battle of Castle Hyperios, including coming home and participating in The Year of the Dragon.   Her current whereabouts are unknown, but she has been sighted both in Atresa and Draconfall.
