Construction beginning/end
At the heart of Bard's Rest Forest is an encampment bearing the same name - Bard's Rest Forest Encampment.
The original started with a makeshift leanto for a tavern and a rough campsite with a half a dozen semi permanent marquees set up nearby.
Nobody knows for certain when it was the Geoffrey Delsarte (presumably the first of that name) threw a rough leanto up and set up the original establishments later to be known as Bard's Rest Forest Encampment and it's central feature the Tavern.
It is widely agreed that it was in 803, so that much is reasonably certain.
Every generation of Delsartes since that date have produced one Geoffrey who has, so far at least, consistently taken the helm of leaderhips running the Tavern and, as it happens, much of the "other" operations concerning the forest encampment.
The Delsarte family have supported the Geoffreys in their efforts through the generations, often times a sibling or two and a few cousins reside/work at the running of, security for or fun, frivolity and general entertainment of the place.
From its earliest days, travellers, particular soldiers returning from front line service for some well earned rest found the Rest to be a fantastic escape from the trials of the rest of the world.
