Wydowdr Poddle falls to combined Hadovean and Moridale forces

Forces of Moridale and surrounding lands. Aided by the Hadovean Empire attempt to overthrow the leadership of the Geildheim border town of Wydodwr Poddle and replace them with leadership more sympatheic to their cause.

Prelude to the battle

The earlier fighting during the Geldheimers failed advance along the road to Moridale had been bloody, and its outcome devastating for the Kingdom. A plan was soon devised between the Hadovean Empire and the Duke of Moridale to engage on a surprise attack, striking at the Kingdom border town of Wydodwr Poddle. The surprise attack had hinged on the idea that the Kingdom would be completely unexpecting of an attack by enroute by the Hadovean Empire. Sensing an opportunity that earlier victory provided, the Imperial forces and local levies were now pushing hard back across the hedgerows that marked the border, and in to the Geldheim township of Wydowdr Poddle.
 

Battle Outcome

Smoke rose over the town of Wydowdr Poddle. The battered Geldheim army was withdrawing in mostly-good order, the motley assembly of neutral baronies and a handful of Imperial troops left atop the battered ramparts. The wall would need patching up if it was to keep livestock in, let alone a determined army out. The Baronies had given the Kingdom a bloody nose, and the Empire's help to the Baronies had not gone un-noticed. The Kingdom's ealier territorial ambitions along the road to Moridale had backfired badly, As a result, Wydowdr Poddle, once a Geldheim border town has now declared independance thanks in no small part to Yozzel, their newly appointed Mayor, whom the Hadovean Empire and Duke of Moridale had installed into a position of authority over the people. His clear sympathies to those that installed him made him at least in the victors eyes a perfect choice. As the bulk of attacking forces withdrew, with their task now complete, staying behind was a small number of Hadovean operatives, their job was to atempt to maintain influence on the town officals and people of Wydowdr Poddle against redecalring their generational alliegance to the Kingdom of Geldheim should the people start longing for days not long past.
