Moridale Ambush the Imperial Hadovean Army and repell them from their Western border.

With the lands north of Sweetwater Lake secured, the Imperial Hadovean army advanced in force along the trade road, their sights set firmly on battling their way to the walls of Moridale. They crossed the border unopposed, but the resistance they expected was merely lying in wait, ready to strike.   The defenders of Moridale, well aware of their disadvantage in numbers, had determined that their best chance of success lay in ambushing the advancing Hadovean force.   The Hadoveans had been marching along the trade road for about an hour when the trap was sprung. Emerging from concealed trenches, the Moridale defenders launched a ferocious attack. The ambush proved devastating—caught off guard, the Hadoveans were thrown into disarray, giving Moridale’s forces the initial advantage. But the Hadoveans were not so easily broken. Lord Mikhail Orlat quickly rallied his troops, leading a fierce counterattack. As the battle raged on, the tide began to turn in favor of the Hadoveans, who slowly gained the upper hand over their determined foes.   Orik Ironskull carved through Moridale’s ranks with brutal efficiency, while Ciris Coldburn rained fiery destruction upon them. But it was Mallory J. Whitman who saw the opportunity to break the Moridale defense beyond recovery. Grabbing her powder keg, she advanced toward the enemy lines. The disciplined Hadovean soldiers closed in around her, shielding her from harm as she pushed forward. Victory seemed within reach.   However, there was another force at play on the battlefield—one the Hadoveans had yet to reckon with.   Sandy Hugh, a legendary sharpshooter from the wilds, had been brought into the fight by the Duke himself, tasked with eliminating key figures among the Empire’s ranks. As chaos unfolded, his keen eyes locked onto a crucial target: Whitman’s powder keg. From an almost impossible distance, he fired. The bullet tore through the narrowest gap in the Hadovean defensive line, striking true.   The explosion was catastrophic. A deafening blast rocked the battlefield, throwing Hadovean soldiers into chaos once more. The tide of battle had shifted again. Though the Hadoveans attempted to rally, this time there would be no recovery. Forced to withdraw, they fell back to their base near Sweet Water Lake to regroup.   The Moridale forces, though victorious, knew this was only the beginning. Their losses were heavy, and when the Hadoveans returned—as they inevitably would—it would take everything they had (and perhaps more) to repel them once more.
