The Kingdom of Geldheim and the Hadovean Empire encounter a Sage near the Tumbling Towers Mountain range

Whatever the expeditions had expected, that hadn't been it. The Sage was no myth. At least, not in the way the word is usually intended. The Sage's grove had stood tranquil in its splendid isolation for... well, centuries at least. Now, it was rubble. Rubble sprinkled with corpses, and the charred residue of magics that could perhaps have levelled cities. The Sage herself was gone. Irritated muttering the last anyone recalls have noticed of her, mumblings on the breeze as storms stilled. She had been, if not sympathetic then at least perhaps less overtly hostile to the forces of Geldheim. Time would tell, as it usually did, if anything might come of that opinion. Of the wreckage of the battle, the Hadoveans had taken the lion's share. The majority of the aetheric fulgurite (14 shards of the 16) had been dragged away by the Empire in the savage fighting following the Sage's physical withdrawal. It remains to be seen to what use such potentially hideously potent artefacts might be put. Rain began to fall across the barren uplands. In some parts, the first rains in living memory. And echoes of annoyed academic verbiage began to sound on the alpine winds whenever the rains would come.
