The Hadovean Empire attack Tenor only to encounter the Erayax Horde

In recent months, the forces of the Hadovean Empire has fought off numerous raiding parties in their Northern reaches. Little is know about who is behind the raids. Empire Rangers do beleive though that the town of Tenor in the contested land near the Hadovean border has been the staging area for their attackers. The initial battle on land south of Tenor was intense with each side having victory within their grasps until the Hadovean Empire prevails suring the village which they would use as a staging point for for the main assault.

Scouts reported in, the ruse worked perfectly. The senior most leader of this mission chuckled at how easily fooled these southerners were. Scouts reported they had slaughtered each other over the village, now they would march on his position. He would prepare defenses knowing full well it would be a few days at the very least before they would come. He contemplated what surprises he might have in store for them.

The Battle

The Empire forces fought hard initially breaking the defences. Though not immediately aware of whom was defending this area in the township, it became patently obvious they were not their traditional foe (Geldheim) nor were they the locals. They managed to gain a foothold inside the Earthen works, even easily breaking the anti magic cone and, unwittingly releasing a fearsome Ogre, just as the enemy main force that had been "scouting" returned. They immediately attacked and, although a valiant defence was attempted, the Hadoveans were defeated. They gained some benefits sacking the place of some valuable resources during their fighting withdrawal. They took some comfort from the captured gold. The Hadoveans fled south, after almost two full days their pursuers stopped, including that damned Ogre. They headed southwards toward home. The enemy surviving commander sneered at the valuables, not as well as expected. However, they had much to be pleased about. Topping that list was the retaking of the town square and the prisoners taken. The rowdy loud mouthed one name Rodrik, whilst feisty would soon be broken. The general himself would take some delight torturing that one. The Ogre had gone off chasing the Southerners withdrawal. He'd come back and if they were still there, that would be a problem. Whilst they could manage that with some losses, they would not be there. He gave the order, the treasure was packed into a cart, the southerners would not rush back here now he surmised. As the sun set on this battle, a somewhat reduced horde made their way north away from this southern town. A shadowy figure followed, long arm slung to his shoulder, looking to exploit an opportunity.
