Hadovea and Geldheim border push against each other near Sweetwater lake

Military: Battle

7/3

For the first time in 100s of years the Hadovean and Geldheim borders meet while both side look to push their borders into each others territory. The Battle though ferce resulted in a stalemate where no side made any significant advances.

After 100s of years of back and forth fighting over small neighbouring towns and villages the time of confrontation had come. As both the Empire forces and the Kingdom forces bolstered by opportunistic mercenaries pushed the advance from both sides of no man's land, the sounds of musket fire, steel meeting steel and the blood curdling screams of the wounded and dying could be heard for miles around. The empire seemed to have come with a determined push to start the battle off strong as the Dragoons fought valiantly to hold the line and keep their comrades standing. Seeing their men continuously fall wave after wave the commanders of both forces nominated their champions and engaged them to the battlefield. The fight was long and grand moments of heroic actions against the champions were made by many of the opposing forces but in the end the two champions stood face to face alone on the battlefield both covered in the blood of their enemies and their comrades. The air reeked of blood and gunpowder, both champions stood there tired and wounded but longing to finish what they had started. However, Kingdom's champion seized the day with a riposte that could be called almost almost fluid as water, delivering the killing blow to his foe. As the empire champion fell to his knees the blood running down his bare chest the empire forces stood on in horror meanwhile, a rally was heard, "For the Kingdom! CHARGE!!!" could be heard from the kingdom battle line. The champion stood ready for a glorious death which came at the hands of a small group of empire soldiers, however, the champions last stand allowed Kingdom forces to eliminate the empire heavy front line and seizing the battlefield again. Finally, one last ditch effort was made by the force commanders to destroy the defensive structures that stood between them and the enemies controlled lands. Dragging carts of explosives through the heated battle was a hard run and those involved fought tooth and nail to protect the explosives till they were at their destination. Even with a strong defensive line from the Kingdom, Empire forces managed to plant one of the explosives and a sneaky pirate blew through some of the forward defenses leading to a rather exposed moment but it was the Ironguard that shined brightest at this moment as they held their ground and filled the recent opening in their defences to allow the explosive to be removed by their sappers. Even though the defensive line did not faulter the Kingdom was just too slow to arm their explosives and the withdrawal back to the fortifications was called by both parties, and the collection of their dead began. The battle was a stalemate and the loss of life was grand and a waste of man power. The kingdom and empire force commanders were now tasked to find another way to push through the border. The forests around the river of Pont seemed like a nice idea. But for now it seemed like the border wars would stay for awhile longer. After all, after 100s of years of stalemate and warring what was a few more months.
