Military: Skirmish
The Great council of Guild send a skilled group of Ashnoorian adventures to the Eastern rediscovered land to investigate the the Disappearance of the School of Silence Steps Guild Leader Elyaar Glynwenys near the Laughing Woods and Blunder Woods
On constant guard in the unfamiliar surroundings of the Eastern Rediscovered Lands, the Ashnoorian group of adventures peered cautiously along the path leading into the Laughing Woods while they considered their next step. It was Reynard of Red Company who was appointed by the School of the Silent Step Guild to lead the Ashnoorians in the search for their missing Guild Leader Elyaar. As could be expected Reynard was honoured that the guild would place such faith in him but equally the weigh of responsibility for this mission weighed heavily on his shoulders. The sound of eerie laughter drifted out of the woods carried by a chilly breeze, making the Ashnoorians feel uneasy however all Reynard could hear was the beating of his heart. All he could feel was the tightness in his chest. Reynard breathed in heavily to settle his nerves before giving the order to enter in search of the missing Guild Leader. It soon became apparent they were not alone in their search. A Warband local to this area had heard tale of a missing foreigner of note from the south in the Laughing Wood, most likely dazed and confused by the wood’s unique properties. Lead by the ruthless Avarax, he had not yet decided what he would do with such a prize should he capture her, perhaps a sale to the slave traders or maybe just kill her to send a message to the southerners to steer clear of their woods. As the two groups searched for clues regarding Elyaar’s whereabout it was not long until they discovered each other resulting in battle breaking out. It was the Ashnoorians who gained the upper hand at first in the battle. With their initial advantage they were able to find Elyaar, dazed and confused from her ordeal in the woods. Dealing with Avarax’s warband was no easy task however as they fought back strongly capturing Elyaar. Avarax rage at the battle boiled over, taunting the Ashnoorians. “For your insolence this one will now die at my hands” The sound of his own heart beat now almost deafening inside his head, Reynard knew full well this next moment would define the success of the Ashnoorian mission. “Not on this day” he roared back “Ashnoorians, Elyaar will not die at this ones hand, advance, ensure none will escape our wrath” The battle turned for Avarax’s warband and the fighting waged on, soon his entire warband lay lifelessly around him. For a split second Avarax considered feeling for his life, but quickly dismissed it. If this was to be his final day he would take as many as he could with him. Using all his guile, cunning and brute strength he fought with the strength and ferocity of 10 warriors until finally through weight of numbers he was overwhelmed. Avarax’s final day had come, the Ashnoorians were successful, battered and bruised but alive they set off to return to the safety of Doomsayers Keep with a grateful Guild Leader.
