20.07.2024 - Scribe-5 - Trial Discussions
General Summary
- Over the evening meal in Veilhearth, we discuss Scribe-5's findings before meeting Prosecutor Dullword tomorrow
- Sylword makes an ox-tail soup, and hands Scribes a bowl of armor wax
- Coty has just arrived back after visiting Two-Rivers. She reports that the building of the mill is going well
- She has asked them to appoint a leader for the day to day
- Void notices a note under his plate, which is unexpectedly hot
- "I am sure you will suceed in your heroic deeds in the days to come. Your fan, E"
- He tells the party, who are concerned with how the admirer got inside our defences
- Scribe-5 mentions what she found out about Lorladon's connection to the different countries
- Before the Awarth became more open, Yin was an extremely strict empire. Their preferred punishment was stilling, but lorladon has already been stilled
- Coty wants to keep Lorladon alive
- It is mentioned that the people of Yin might not agree
- Scribes warns that he is still able to manipulate people, even without his magic
- Scribe is worried about us gaining custody, as Lorladon has done a lot of damage by manipulating the party before
- Coty is worried about the option of having him contained in the isolation cells of the Path of Hill
- Coty tries to think of something good Lorladon has done, to lighten the sentence:
- He has fostered a lot of children -> that he kidnapped and experimented on
- He was a stern father -> Because he brainwashed Coty
- He was a talented researhcer -> By experimenting and torturing people
- Scribes mentions that we could argue that the Awarth might be seen as bloodthirsty magic users by Yin/Tritonia if they execute him, but rather noble and moral if they give a less severe punishment.
- Void says that the Awarth executing a Tritonia citizen might worsen relations to Tritonia
- Since most people of Tritonia didn't know about Lorladon's crimes, they might just see is as Yin kidnapping and executing a noble
- We argue about who should be the speaker if we do decide to influence things. Sylword is the natural choice, but he is hesitant. Scribes is concerned she will not have the same intentions as Coty would, but offers to assist with information instead. Sylword says that Bucket often knows the right words to say, but just doesn't say them. Void doesn't want to. Sylword reluctantly agrees to speak
- Scribe-5 will assist by providing any necessary info (telepathically)
- Coty will watch how the people receive the speech
- Void and Bucket will look out for trouble, while Bucket is a hype man
- Sylword wants to talk to Gillian Clover before the court date
- Sylword casts Sending to ask the King for a meeting. The King only tells him some facts about Ravens. "Just can't seems to keep Ravens out of his head", then says to name a time. We think he might be around other people
- We tell him to meet in 30 mins, he says that it is quite crowded, but might be possible if we meet in
- Scribe-5 casts Telepotation Circle to the University in Tidehaven, and sets up the telepathic bond
- We are ushered into a secret ancient chapel of the Stormlord, where King Gillian is standing
- Sylword knows that Gillian is religious
- Void notices that the air is thick with divine magic, like the room is filled with thunderclouds, but only to Void's Detect Magic
- Sylword casually tells him (after a pinky promise to not panic) that we've arrested Lord Dristword, and that he is now in Yin
- Gillian straight up says "Yes, he should die. Why shouldn't he?"
- Coty reveals that she is the Dristword heir, "but we did some deals, sold some stuff, got some money"
- Gillian is not pleased that Coty some assets without consulting him, but then remembers that he did approve all of it, including Coty's brother being the heir now
- Sylword tries to explain why we want him to survive the trial
- Both Sylword and Gillian has been having nightmares lately, every night. Gillian keeps dreaming of his wife who hasn't returned yet
- Sylword tells him that he found the Mountain's ship, but no sign of him. He is concerned that he is still alive
- He scrys every night, with no results
- Gillian says that it is tempting to kill Lorladon to end that chapter, but if we can give him something to appease the nobles, he will look the other way.
- Gillian wants the trial to be here (Tritonian citizen), if not we better find a good reason why
- We say goodbye, and Sylword tries to Word of Recall. But Moradin doesn't answer
- Gillian explains that we have to go out of the castle to use magical means of travel
- An unrelated conversation about the room being suffocating, leaves Scribes with a new fear that her friends might one day forget to breathe and just die
- Sylword pulls Bucket aside once we get back to Veilhearth. They're whispering so that Scribes doesn't hear.
- He shows him the prototype of two bronze shields
- Standing on opposite sides of the room, Sylword shouts "Barrier" and gets dragged across the room to where Bucket is. Their shields are fused
- Sylwords main motivation is to prank someone
- Preventing Scribes from opening a book
- Opening and closing a door -> Ghosts
- The way Sylword came up with it is a sad story that might not be ethical
- He seperated souls that longs to be together into seperate shields, so that their power brings the shields together
- They lock one of Scribes' books "How to get along with people" before going to sleep. She spends the night trying to free her book
- During the night, Coty wakes up in the Dristword estate. She is ten, and it feels very real
- There are other beds, with multiple other children of varying ages
- Sylword will be missing when we speak to the prosecutor, since someone found out that the previous leader of horn was colluding with the emperor (Asgeir won't be there next session)
Plan
Coty's dream. Have the prosecutor meeting. Figure out why Gillian didn't tell us about his wife not coming when we said she would within half an hour. Also figure out where she is.
