Eshara the Watchful

The Red-Eyed Guardian, Whisperer of the Last Breath, The Harvester, Weaver of Red Dreams, Keeper of Rest

Eshara is the goddess of death, fulfillment, and rest.   She is symbolized by red lanterns casting long shadows, ants circling a red stalk, a red eye with a hushed tear.   Her cults are The Silent Order, devoted to ensuring peaceful transitions for the dead, the more ominous Harvesters who are rumored to be more goal oriented.   The faithful observe vows of silence and give their voices to the dead, and utter hushed chants to soothe the restless souls, according to the scriptures of The Whispered Path.   Temples are serene, dark places with red paper lanterns hanging throughout and air filled with the scent of sweet incense. Gardens with intricate ant colonies are maintained within temple grounds.   Priests of Eshara can commune woth the spirits of the deceased, grant them peace, as well as ease the suffering of the dying. They have been known to summon swarms and plagues of small insects.   There is a legend about the esharic artifact The Lantern of Eternal Rest - a red paper lantern that glows eternally, guiding lost souls.
