Eiko Religions (general)
While most of the denizens of Eiko respect and pray to the full pantheon in response to life events, others chose or are chosen to devote themselves to one god in particular. These individuals fall into a loose hierarchy, and while their beliefs and roles may differ, all of these devoted individuals bear the symbol of their god.
Acolytes can be anyone who dedicates their lives to a specific god of the pantheon instead of worshiping the whole pantheon. They bear the symbol of their god on the clothing they wear and the implements they use in their worship.
A Paladin is a specific god's chosen warrior. One must be selected by the god themselves and cannot just take vows. They are tasked to hunt down or combat specific forces. While those vary by the god they serve, all paladins are responsible for shielding clerics from any threat that might target them. Paladins bear the mark of their god as a softly glowing mark on the back of their primary weapon hand.
Clerics, like paladins, are selected by a god, but sit at the top of the 'order', acting as a mortal voice between the gods and the various races of Eiko. They are responsible for combating more nebulous forces that might threaten Eiko. Clerics bear the mark of their god as a softly glowing mark on their forehead.
