Paladin Culture

Culture of the Valorous

Atop a hill, a handful of Paladins stand together, purifying the desecrated ground that surrounds a small village. Their efforts do not go unnoticed as the Undead that shambled around the wooden buildings in the dark slowly fall and crumble as scared villagers come out of hiding, safe from something that had plagued them for months. A cheer goes up, and with waves of thanks, the Paladins move on, heading towards another place, another village that needed their help.   Individuals in heavy armor direct the movement of lumber and different parts as they help to rebuild after an attack that had nearly razed the place to the ground. Others heal scratches and other wounds, both from the attack and the rebuilding. The five or so Paladins that are here will spend the next few months in this village, fulfilling their duty and leading these people forward to a much better place.   No matter which deity a Paladin follows, these people are bound together through their leadership and heroic hearts that drive them to enter the battle in order to save others. Tenets of faith, armor, weapons, and other things vary greatly across the profession, but all of them look towards betterment, servitude in the name of the greater good. It is this that sets them apart and marks them as what they are.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

The culture of Paladins may seem extremely varied, differentiated by the various deities that these people follow, yet there are still parts of their culture that align, no matter what deity they follow or their beliefs. This culture has been passed down through various Paladin orders across the ages, keeping the symbols of hope alive through these small things.

Beliefs

All peoples in Isekai have a set of beliefs that they follow as their law, their moral compass. Often this is dictated by one's race, the culture they grew up in, or what they have been taught throughout their lives. Paladins and other Purple Magic users have the widest range of beliefs, as these beliefs are dictated by the deity they follow and the profession they join. In many instances, Paladins chose deities that align with the beliefs that have been ingrained in them as children from their race's culture.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The lives of Paladins are heavily influenced by the tenets of the god they have chosen to follow. While some things are common for all who choose this path, such as the wielding of Divine Crests and the oaths they follow, more specific customs will be dictated by the god they have sworn an oath to. Because of this, Paladins often stand out in groups, which is an unintentional but helpful part of their job.

Clothing & Textiles

Clothing for Paladins is important in how it protects them from harm that may be inflicted on them and how it represents their chosen deity. While Paladins are welcome to wear anything they choose, often times, their clothing is chosen or at least regulated by their Order or the tenets of faith.
Armor
Armor is the most important thing that Paladins can wear and have in their arsenal to protect themselves against whatever harm may come to them. This armor is most likely Dwarven forged and usually consists of either heavy plate or chain mail, depending on a number of factors. Paladins may also carry shields as part of their ensemble, but this is more common in Paladins that focus on the guardian or defense style of fighting.
Divine Crests
Divine Crests are not an item unique to Paladins, as all Purple Magic casters use them, but Paladins most commonly turn their armor or weapons into their Divine Crests. Through these items, these casters channel their magic and can use it for a variety of things, including their infamous blast of divine might.

Languages

Paladins are not required to speak any language other than Common, but a large majority of Paladins take it upon themselves to learn the most common languages of the people who live in the area they serve or other languages that will help them on their travels. It is rare to find a Paladin that does not speak at least two other languages beyond Common.

Relations With Others

Some professions transcend the bias and treatment that is common due to one's race. Paladins are one of these professions, people who are often trusted without doubt, no matter where they come from or what their race is. Because of this, Paladins tend to have good relations with all, but some will work better in communities that align with their cultures and religious tenets.

Religious Observance

The Pantheons of Isekai are of extreme importance to all races and cultures, no matter their differences or difficulties. Different cultures tend to worship one of the gods, as this belief is what allows them to be judged fairly upon their deaths.   Paladins are one of the few groups that have worshippers of all of the gods. Depending on which of the gods a specific Paladin follows, they may have different values, follow different tenets, or have beliefs that contradict those of other Paladins. This does not stop those of various deities from sharing a passion for helping others and fulfilling their duties.
