Libra's Crown

Center of Titannia

Nestled amongst the branches rests a simple building, one high above the others that ring the Festival Redwoods that reach forever into the heavens. Its wooden exterior easily blends in, hiding it from the eyes of onlookers below, those who are not welcome in the precious spaces that the Witches have carved for themselves. Above all else sits their place of peace, a place created with devoted hands in the name of the Goddess and the light she brings to the world.   Much of the Fairy King's Wood is home to hidden villages and buildings tucked in flower fields below and the canopy above. Not all of them are the home of Witches, but many of them are, hidden places that are just for the sisterhood that devotes itself to Libra, a place all their own away from the history that has driven these women far and wide. Even with centuries of displeasure behind them, these women make their own spaces, buildings, and villages dedicated wholly to the one who sees them for what they truly are.   Libra's Crown is one such building, hidden in the canopy above Titannia, built by the hands of the Lofted Tree Coven. While a place of worship, Libra's Crown is so much more, a place of harmony, discussion, safety, and serenity. The rest of the village can be seen from the forest floor with a trained eye, but the building at the very top is hidden by nature and magic, a single place of solitude if the rest of their security was removed from them. Such a simple building, Libra's Crown is the heart of the coven and the women who call this small village home.

Purpose / Function

Libra's Crown is a multi-purpose building that sits at the center of everything the Lofted Tree Coven does. Used as a place of weaving, devotion, study, and more, if an activity does not occur within designated workshops or homes, it most often occurs in Libra's Crown. This building was built to accommodate the entire coven in times of need while also being hidden due to its height above the ground and specific magic woven by the women of the coven.
Festival Redwood Bark
The bark of the Festival Redwoods is not only sturdy, but does have some magical camouflage properties when placed in proximity to other trees. It is commonly used by Witches in the Fairy King's Wood to hide their villages from prying eyes.

Architecture

While a simple treehouse with a number of bridges between it and other buildings further down in other trees, the architecture of Libra's Crown is a specialty of the Witches. From the outside, the building does not seem very large, utilizing strips of bark from the Festival Redwoods to blend in with the other trees. These strips were carved from fallen trees or found throughout the forest.   The interior of the building is much larger than anticipated, holding a number of rooms that seem to be ever changing. It is unknown whether this is through the Witches' doing or if the magic of the forest is aiding in changing the size of the building when there is a need. As more activities become common in the coven, more rooms appear in Libra's Crown, allowing all to be together, no matter what they are doing.   Sturdy bridges pass from the three exterior doors of Libra's Crown to buildings further down the surrounding trees. Wide enough for two women to pass easily while carrying a great number of things, these bridges have been enchanted not to sway in the wind and not to fall apart due to rain and rot. The incline of the bridges is kept minimal, and one is required to follow the bridges as they wrap down and around the trees to reach the buildings that are a good distance below Libra's Crown.

History

Before even the village of Titannia existed, Libra's Crown was built in the canopy of the Festival Redwoods as a safe haven for what would eventually become the Lofted Tree Coven. As part of the Coven of the White Tree, the Witches of the Lofted Tree Coven were persecuted more than most, even after the Witches were allowed to return to the Fairy King's Wood under the protection of Festival Snix. These women were part of the coven that sought power from the earth, harnessing raw magic in order to better their world. This way of thinking was not well-accepted,
even by many of the Fairies that opened their homes to the displaced Witches.   A handful of these women set out into the forest on their own, looking to carve out a place where they could practice their magic and expand the growing trades of Arcane Weaving and Wand Making. As they wandered, a small copse of Festival Redwoods that were particularly close together drew their interest, and that is where they began making their haven.   The first goal was to establish a singular building that could house the fledgling coven as well as serve as a place of worship, work, and leisure. This building would be hidden from prying eyes with the nature surrounding it, but would also require a magical barrier that only lets those of true heart through. This would come to mean only other Witches would be allowed into this space, one that was dedicated wholly to Libra.   Over five years, the Witches built Libra's Crown, utilizing fallen logs and branches to slowly build their new home and trading for whatever else they needed. It is unknown the exact date of the building's completion, but it is said that the Lofted Tree Coven was formally founded not long after the completion of the building. Over the following years, the village of Titannia would be built beneath Libra's Crown, still in the canopy of the Festival Redwoods, but not nearly as high.
In the Canopy
The Witches of the Lofted Tree Coven chose to build their homes and buildings in the canopy of the Festival Redwoods so they are not easily seen from the ground. Important buildings such as Libra's Crown have other measures in place to make them unfindable.
