Halflings for the Aid of the Little Forest
Historical Society of the Little Greenwood
Sweat drips from the brow of a smaller than-most Halfling as she straightens, wiping dirty hands on her smock. The recultivation of these plants has taken her years, weeding, watering, and fertilizing when needed, all so that the community garden would thrive and help those less fortunate than herself. It often struck her as odd doing this work in the name of historic preservation, but the plants of the Little Greenwood were much older than any that currently called the forest home and would remain long after they all had left. While a dirty and sometimes thankless process, her work served two purposes, charity and preservation.
You would not find the efforts of these preservationists in museums or galleries. Their work was left in the ground, dirty, muddy, surrounded by pests and debris and the evidence of life given by the earth. The work of the Halflings for the Aid of the Little Forest (HALF) was showcased in gardens and arbors, places of nature and growth. Those who dedicated themselves to this organization chose to be stewards of the ancient plants and animals that called the Little Greenwood home, helping them thrive and cultivating them again when their populations dwindled. While that was the main point of their work, that was not all these people did in the aid of their homeland.
HALF was created to aid all those who lived in the Little Greenwood, no matter how big or small. Cultivation of populations was the main focus, but that did not mean that they only cultivated the flora and fauna. Flourishing ancient plants brought back from near extinction became community gardens to feed the less fortunate. Education about plants and animal life became opportunities to teach children not only stewardship of the land but also to open free schools that taught all who could reach them. HALF became the group that did it all of the small villages of the Little Greenwood and then some, the villages lost in the bustle of the forest but removed from the coast when the traders lived. The words “Aid for the Little Forest” became so much more than originally planned.
Structure
While the name makes it seem like only Halflings can join, Halflings for the Aid of the Little Forest welcomes members from all cultures and races that may reside in the Little Greenwood. At one point, the organization was only Halflings, but that has since changed dramatically. In most instances, the organization chooses to go by HALF in order not to misrepresent its constituents.
The main goal of the society is the preservation of the ancient megaflora and fauna that call the Little Greenwood home. This goal is part of everything HALF does, but the organization has dramatically increased its reach in more recent years. From community gardens to teaching opportunities, HALF has taken to more philanthropic pursuits in order to better their communities and the forest as a whole.
Pimfire Tealeaf serves as the organization’s leader as well as its representative to ASHES, allowing for collaborations with other historical societies on the continent. As a botanist, she is an expert in megaflora, specifically those in the Little Greenwood, but has expanded her area of expertise to include unique plants found elsewhere in Vóreios. She also serves as the voice for the various historical societies to expand their reach and find different ways to benefit the communities they serve.
History
Founded in the years before the Eldritch War, HALF was originally a small group of botanists dedicated to the revival of various plant species that were beginning to die out. Many of these plants were ancient, beingLeader Spotlight

Wilderness preservation is always a most noble, and almost always a most underappreciated, boon to society, and that's a wonderful through line for this prompt. I like this a lot and would happily donate time, funds or aid to such a cause (as I do when I can in real life) if I were in this region of Isekai. Fantastic take on this prompt, most certainly tucking in into my collection :)
