Day of the Accords
Celebration of Varell
Another year passes, and a day known as a holiday but more different than any other rises, shining on gatherings of people ready to fulfill their civic duty. Over the course of this day, relationships will be created and strengthened between cities and nations, each working towards law and order in the name of peace. In many ways, this day that has become a holiday is one of work and discussion, diplomatic discourse and action that can change the course of history.
In one chamber, a council works out their differences, settling on the wording of new laws, while somewhere else, neighbors come together to share baked goods and goodwill with a neighboring village. Elsewhere, graduations of Knights, Paladins, and Warriors occur with pomp and circumstance while the newest batch of recruits begins the first steps to a new career. As different as all these things may be, they occur at the same time, all in the name of Varell, the Living Law.
Over the centuries, the Day of the Accords and its activities have changed, from big demonstrations and displays of punishments to a time to renew diplomatic relations. The Eldritch War changed everything, turning this day to be one to build alliances that may eventually take a country, kingdom, or village through another war, a conflict that cannot be solved by a singular group. Now, the Day of the Accords means a day of change and discussion, removed from the days when capital punishment was on great display.
History
The Day of the Accords was once a holiday that was only celebrated by those who worshipped Varell or had strong ties to the God of Order. As access to the Accords of Conduct became more widespread and the scrolls were translated into more languages, the holiday became more widely celebrated on the third day of Fall's Evening. It began as a day set aside to deal out the punishments outlined in the Accords of Conduct, but eventually this fell out of favor as the punishments of the Accords were used only for capital and war crimes.
Soon, the Day of Accords became one of council meetings and discussions. People used this as a day of discourse in order to better the positions of their towns and countries in different alliances. Lawmakers met and created laws, heard grievances, and more, allowing for those who lived farther away to make it to these meetings. A set day for these activities greatly aided in their success.
After the Eldritch War, the diplomatic discussions on this day increased, but many countries and kingdoms established graduations for those who were becoming Knights, Paladins, and Warriors. The Day of the Accords also became the official start for those who joined these same careers, becoming both a perfect end and beginning for professions that served in the name of order.

Council meetings and other diplomatic discussions are the central events of the Day of the Accords. While different than other holidays, this is still a day of celebration, but the festivities look a great deal different.
