Nin Ranu-ung
Nin Ranu-ung, meaning "Water City" in halfling, is the main trading outpost of Vashnir, bringing supplies from other countries via the coast and shipping them out through the various ships and cruisers that arrive at the city each day.
Demographics
Nin Ranu-ung is primarily a human and halfling settlement, with some dragonborns here and there from the coast. As it is a trading outpost at heart, most people work as craftsmen, ropemakers or chandlers, working day and night to maintain the trading vessels and transport the goods on or off them. Fishmongering is also very common, with the shores being filled with a variety of coastal fish.
Government
Other than the harsh trade laws set in place to protect those merchants, there is little restriction within Nin Ranu-ung, allowing residents to live a comfortable life on the boardwalks. However, this has lead to the formationof underground gangs that manipulate and exploit the trading business for their own measures, while they relax behind the scenes.
Defences
Despite the more relaxed defence system within Nin Ranu-ung, there are still many guards who patroll the trading site to keep it secure. There is also a mini perimeter wall that houses a checkpoint that travellers must get through before entering the city.
Infrastructure
The docks and shipyards of the outpost are most prominent, with almost a third of the area taken up by boats and buildings housing their supplies and stock. The major infrastructure has been cut loose though, walking along rickey wooden walkways being the only way to access some areas. The lifestyle is very traditional, with buckets of water and open fire stoves, and the people like it this way and would hate to live with the technology of the bigger cities like Krolask.
Assets
Nin Ranu-ung is a fairly wealthy town, though this wealth is kept more within the high up mercher circles instead of the general crowds, so the poorer brackets are a lot more deprived. There is plenty of fishing and sailing equipment, and defensive arms are commonplace.
Architecture
Housing is more basic within Nin Ranu-ung compared to other major settlements in Vashnir, with buildings being made primarily from oak or spruce wood from the common trees that surround the town.
Geography
Nin Ranu-ung is right on the coast, a connected city of boardwalks that are supported by the high cliffs around them. The town looks beautiful in a sunset, with the light shimmering of the water and making it seem so magical.
Natural Resources
Though the town is highly focused on trade, most of its inhabitants eat local fish and veg from their surroundings, which is also a landmark trade for the outpost.
