After discovering the Ashen Ones, a race of two and a half million humanoids rotting away on the death world Akhlaqi due to the presence of a flesh eating virus, Robert Tanzer determined that there needed to be a coordinated effort to explore unexplored regions of space in order to discover unknown peoples and to prevent tragedies like the one he had just encountered. This moment was the spiritual beginning of the Void Wardens, as the idea had just taken sprout in his mind.   Envisioning the Void Wardens as a network of ships, stations and rangers dedicated to keeping space safe and assisting those in need, Robert's dream of a largely peaceful and exploration focused organisation were shattered by the onset of The Fleshshaper War. Sensing the need for a rapid response force, First Warden Tanzer realigned his organisation towards fighting the alien threat, while doing his best to stay true to it's core vision whenever possible.
