Fleshshaper Reconnaisance

Expedition

Robert Tanzer is tasked with exploring Fleshshaper space.

At the behest of the Unity Council, UNW explorer Robert Tanzer was tasked with exploring Fleshshapers space in order to gain intel on the rising threat to Galactic North. Borrowing the stealth frigate Dark Star from Marcion, the recon team travelled to IvarraIvarra, a world believed to be within the Fleshshaper sphere. That assumption was proved correct, as the crew of the Dark Star entered a system that was in the process of being harvested for biomass by the aliens. Great continent sized vessels were snaring all life on the surface from orbit using massive fleshy nets draped over the planet, while numerous other Fleshshaper vessels were travelling through the system on their own inscrutable missions.   Taking a risk, Tanzer stayed in system, the stealth crafts systems proving up to the task by keeping them concealed. An active scan proved to be a mistake, with the aliens capable of sensing and responding to the vessels sensors. Two ships chased the Dark Star as it made it's escape, launching missiles that were seemingly alive in their own right at the fleeing ship. It was only the skill of the capable crew and the ships incredible speed that saved them from death at the hands of the enemy.   Travelling to Kamal next, the Dark Star was dragged out of its spike drill by the ships systems, sensing objects that could have caused a potential collision in the ships path. Those objects turned out to be two exodus ships escaping the harvest of Kamal carrying hundreds of thousands of refugees in cryosleep, along with the ex-UNW psychic Silvano Mazzio and his cruiser. The small flotilla had taken extensive damage escaping Kamal, and Silvano had remained with his cruiser to protect the exodus ships while repairs were undertaken. Tanzer helped with the repairs, allowing the ships to become spike capable again, but moments before the repairs were complete a Fleshshaper drone arrived that was able to prevent the function of any spike drives near it, which made it clear why almost no ships ever escaped a system attacked by Fleshshapers. Very soon after two alien attack ships arrived, firing boarding pods at the exodus ships. While Silvano, Tanzer and the refugee Ronakeve Donovan helped organize the defense of the vessels interiors, Nancy, pilot of the Dark Star rammed her ship into the Fleshshaper drone, allowing the small fleet to escape their attackers and begin the journey to Gudrun. Silvano and his cruiser did not follow the fleet, and are presumed to still be travelling the void.
