Imperial Palace
On a large rocky island on the south-west corner of the city stands the marbled Imperial Palace where it shines like a beacon for ships going for the Carrano markets. From this palace, the Emperor governs the Empire of Storvia and oversees the activities of his holdings. The Imperial Palace is the meeting place for the Imperial Court, which commonly meets in the massive Throne-room. Although the Imperial Palace is considered part of the city of Carrano, its population is sizeable enough to be considered a city on its own. In fact, most of the commoners serving the Imperial Court lives on the island and rarely visit the larger city.
The island which the Imperial Palace is built upon is known as Dragon's End due a local legend about the city's founding. The legend states that the first leader of the Storvians defeated Baderious the Black Dread, a massive ancient black dragon, upon the rocky island and used his bones to carve out the city's vast bay. The skull of the dragon can still be found in the Grand Hall of the Imperial Palace hanging above the Throne.
Notable rooms or buildings within the Imperial Palace include:
- Grand Hall: Larger than a full-grown ancient dragon, the Grand Hall functions as the throne room and is therefore also the home of the Imperial Court. Feasts and celebrations are also typically held within the Grand Hall.
- Imperial Kitchen: It requires a massive kitchen to feed the entire population of the Imperial Palace. The Imperial Kitchen is a multistory hall where the furnaces almost never stop burning as various meats, bread and cakes are prepared.
- Dragon Pit: Legend says the the Dragon Pit marks the spot where the first leader of the Storvian Empire slew the ancient dragon. Today, the Dragon Pit is used for performances of fights, theater, and concerts.
- Great Library: Home to Imperial documents and the many scribes and scholars that helps administer the vast Empire as well as a massive book collection.
- Rose Garden: Located on the North end of the island lies the beautiful Rose Garden which is also the home to the yearly Grand Tournament where knights from the entire Empire gather to display their prowess and skill.
- Crow's Bay: The docks used by the flagships of Imperial Fleet and other private ships owned by the Emperor.
