The Blue
Arcane Magic, or as it is commonly referred to as the Blue, is the most common source of magic throught the continent and typically is used as a catch all term for any magic that is not The Green or The Red. While it is the most widespread magic source it surprisingly is the most mysterious in nature. A blue mage can be born into a family of powerful mages and can either follow in their family's footsteps or could possess no magical ability at all. On the opposite end of the spectrum a blue mage can be born into a poor family with only the faintest hints of magic in their blood and awaken to become a powerful archmage.
In addition to the mysteries of how blue mages aquire their abilities the multitude of magical types and power levels under the umbrella of Blue magic are just as mysterious. A Blue mage could be a powerful evoker slinging an element of their specialty with power to topple cities, or, they could be a low powered illusionist, running card scams on the streets of a big city. But one thing does remain a constant amongst all blue magic users, most tend to always be trying to learn new ways to push the enevelope of their abilities.
Blue mages are among the most highly regulated due to how much power a blue mage could wield. In The Alliance nations in order to activley practice magic for profit or personal use a blue mage must obtain a mage certification from a magical college. While there are several smaller schools and accredited independent teachers that can give these certifications to qualified mages the magical colleges are considered the ultimate endorsment and magical college graduates are highly sought after.
While there have been many attempts to categorize blue mages abilities it is generally held that there are 7 major defined magical categories with an 8th being reserved for those that do not fit the mold called, Iconoclasts.
The 7 major defined magical categories are: Evocation, Divination, Illusion, Enchantment, Abjuration, Conjuration, and Transmutation
