Uleon was the first of the continents to recover from The Collapse, and as such is thought of as the cradle of modern Ioran civilization. It is also the continent that has seen the most conflict in the world, with the main instigators being the nations of
Akhi,
Xohil, and
Megatu.
Geography
Located primarily in the southeastern hemisphere, south of the Sirae Ocean, Uleon boasts the largest landmass of the three Ioran continents. It connects to
Eovara at the border of
Tanoshira and ends in the south with a swath of tundra that connects it to the South Pole. The largest nations that occupy the continent are
Soaraia and Megatu, though most major world powers that call it home are relatively close in size since the dissolution of the Akhi Empire. In total, it is divided between 27 unique states.
At 1.96 billion inhabitants, Uleon also houses the majority of the world's population. Of that 1.96 billion, most of Uleon's population lives in the verdant central belt of the continent south of the Thulathi Deserts, though the largest cities can be found in northern
Nyota and central Soaraia. The most populated nations on the continent are Soaraia and Xohil, though
Zehl has the highest population density.
The continent features one major mountain range called the Horns of the World that stretches from the
Bau shoreline in the west to the Megatu plains in the East, with the
highest peaks found in Xohil territory.
Ecosystem
Due to its sheer size, it is difficult to generalize when it comes to Uleon's climate, as it ranges from the arid deserts of
Nyota to the humid jungles of
Baejahn to the windswept tundras of southern
Soaraia. That said, the northern parts of the continent tend towards warmer, dryer climates, with the average temperature gradually decreasing and relative moisture gradually increasing as you get closer to the South Pole.
Flora and Fauna
As with the continent's ecosystem, it is difficult to generalize when it comes to Uleon's flora and fauna. It does play host to the worlds largest species of land mammal, the
Uldra, the tallest of which stands at almost 20 feet and weighs a little over 26 tons. The rainforests of Baejahn are also the most biologically diverse environment on Iora, though the vast majority of the species that live there have yet to be internationally documented.
