Eras of the Universe

Overview

The history of the Wider Universe is separated into several major time periods, the changes of which are marked by immense shifts in the goings-on of the universe. These periods are separated into Eras 1 to 4, along with an unknown period of time prior to Era-1 when the Universe was quiet.

Before Era-1 (Era-0)

Overview

The time prior to Era-1, sometimes referred to as Era-0, is a time prior to any civilizations reaching beyond their home star systems. Within this period, both the Protiun Empire and the Empire Desimun were developing on their own planets and in their own systems. Though they were growing in different ways and for different amounts of time, the two emerged from their star systems at roughly the same time. When the two came into contact, they almost immediately entered a conflict to hold a controlling share of the universe. This contact marked the beginning of Era-1.

Era-1

Overview

Era-1 was a period of conflict between the Protiun Empire and the Empire Desimun. These two spent centuries in conflict, attempting to gather enough territory to gain control of the other. The Protiun Empire had the upper hand at first, but eventually found themselves on the ropes as the Empire Desimun began to slowly overtake their territory.

The Ending of Era-1 was the result of the Protiun and Desim conflict coming to a head over the Earth's territory. The Protiun Empire dispatched their force of Invictus against the Empire Desimun to hold them off until a piece of technology they developed could push the Empire Desimun into an empty dimension. This had several unintended consequences, pushing the Light out alongside the Empire Desimun, pushing the Earth into an entirely separate dimension, and releasing a blast of energy so powerful it wiped the Protiun Empire and the Invictus from the universe.

Era-2

Overview

Era-2 began after the collapse of the Era-1 Empires. Most planets within range of the blast from the destruction of the Light were completely destroyed. What remained were inhabited worlds on the edges of both empires' territory, close in proximity and formerly on opposite sides of a galactic conflct. These planets were not very different from the way that the Protiuns or Desim were at the start of Era-1, having moved beyond their home star systems.

The beginnings of an interconnected galactic civilization were there, but there was not any particular organization among them. Toward the end of Era-2, several alliances formed between worlds. These were trade networks or diplomatic alliances, but one alliance between three planets in the Argan system formed a powerful bond and eventually became the first imperial force to emerge from Era-2. This development encouraged the consolidation of more alliances between worlds that eventually led to the start of Era-3.

Era-3

Overview

Era-3 is a period full of alliances and empires across worlds. Most governments hold authority over vast swaths of space, but there is still a large amount of territory that remains independent. In this universe, numerous world-independent organizations exist, some even gaining control of a world or greater territory. Certain organizations, like the Argan Empire or <I don't have a name yet> are focused on the past and uncovering the technology of the Protiun Empire.

Several organizations and territories came together in opposition to the Empire Desimun after its return to the Wider Universe. The pressure placed on them by the Empire's conquest caused an alliance of a kind the Wider Universe hadn't seen yet. After the collapse of the Emprie Desimun, this alliance stabilized and remained, bringing the universe into Era-4.

Era-4

Overview

Era-4 is still in its infancy, but remains quiet. The final loss of Era-1 Civilizations, the stability of peaceful interstellar alliances, and the reintroduction of the Earth into the Wider Universe marked its start, and has yet to have a characterizing conflict.
