Terra Nova

Terra Nova is a planet in the Alpha Centauri star system that is home to one of the oldest human colonies outside the Sol System. It was colonized in 2150 by an international expedition organized by the United Nations. Since then the colony has been governed by the United Nations Interstellar Council.

Geography

The planet is very similar to Earth in terms of geography, climate, fauna and flora. It has 4 major continents. The landmasses are equally spread throughout all of the planet.

Localized Phenomena

There are many natural pheonmena on the surface of the planet that affect the human settlements in a bigger or lesser way. However, there is one phenomenon that equally affects every person on the surface. Intereference in the planet's atmosphere is so strong that it is very hard, almost impossible, to send messages directly to or from the planet. As the result, a fleet of courier ships exist. Messages are uploaded into the ships' computers and when the ships are out of the atmosphere the messages are transmitted along the interstellar network.

Fauna & Flora

Majority of the fauna and flora of Terra Nova is very similar to that on Earth. The most unique creatures of Terra Nova are the animate slimes found in the mountains of the northern hemisphere. They have a form of amorphous slimes and spend most of the time immobile. However, they are fierce predators who hunt insects and small rodents. It was observed that they cover their victims digest them for anywhere between 1 and 4 hours, depending on the sizes of the slime and prey.
