The Day of Renewal
Taking place on the first day of winter and acting as the starting of the new year; the day of recountal is a calming holiday that tells people to gather with friends, family and strangers to tell stories around a fire. People will gather in groups, whole cities sometimes gathering in the city center, and stay awake through the whole night talking and sharing stories. Whether it's anecdotes from the year past, or epic tales from centuries before, it is a time of community and memory. While not everyone who celebrates the day of recountal does so with the intent of paying respects to Sanji, the storytelling holds its roots in his worship. And even ignoring that history, anytime a mortal shares their knowledge and history with another, Sanji smiles upon them.
