Littora
Littora sits at the bottom of Danuria, with the majority of the southern coastline within its borders. Many of Littora's cities are coastal, directly attributed to the Verdurean Jungle that spans Littora's entire kingdom.
The Verdurean Jungle is notoriously treacherous to explore. Within it lies a number of hostile creatures, flora, and tribes of grung, kuo-toa, and other small communities that are fiercely territorial of their land. The jungle landscape has an equally diverse landscape, ranging from flat, foliage-covered expanses to rocky bluffs with vines and roots stretching across the cliff face, all of which blend and mix in truly unpredictable patterns. In combination to this, there are also parts of the jungle that remain untouched by time; hidden beneath centuries-old foliage are pathways to large, underground ecosystems teeming with wildlife from a forgotten age. Early Littorans grew to call these places Epochal Sanctums.
The Epochal Sanctums hold a large number of flora and wildlife that were not present anywhere else in the Verdurean Jungle. The Epochal Sanctums seem to inhabit a space underground, directly between the jungles of Littora and the cavernous pathways of the Chthonic Domain. Entrances into the Sanctums are generally small and hidden under dense growths, common examples being winding tunnels concealed under tree roots or narrow cave entrances hidden behind waterfalls or cliff-faces. It is unknown just how many Sanctums there are, but with each one discovered, a handful of new creatures or plant life is found. One of the most consistent finds is the presence of dinosaurs. Species vary from one Sanctum to another, but they're always found to reside in Sanctums to some capacity.
Dinosaurs are the backbone of Littoran society. Since their first domestication in the formative years of the kingdom, they had been used as beasts of burden. Their resilience proved invaluable to clearing the shorelines of trees and foliage, allowing Littorans to push back against the dangers of the jungle and settle safely. Early Littorans attempted to tame wild dinosaurs, but due to their general hostility and territoriality, they resorted to stealing their eggs to raise. As such, there are stark differences between a wild and domesticated dino, and Littorans are keen on keeping the domestic population under strict control.
This regulation lead to the creation of the Dinokeeper Association. Littorans licensed by the DA are known as Dinokeepers. It is rare for a dino to be seen outside of Littora, as eggs are highly regulated and only produced for Dinokeepers, while fully grown dinos are difficult to transport by ship due to their hulking size and the discomfort they experience on unstable ground. Many species are also not allowed in certain kingdoms due to their potentially dangerous behavior and unpredictability. This, of course, leads to a lucrative black market that operates out of Littoran ports that law enforcement struggles to contain.
Littora's expansive naval trade network allows them to trade easily with every other kingdom, and their early adoption of ships due to almost being completely coastal based grants them significant control over Danuria's oceans. Most maritime trades are managed by Littoran transport companies in one way or another, and the regulation of these is something these companies oversee with surprising efficiency. There's not a single cargo ship that delivers goods without Littora collecting a tariff or other fee. The largest of these transport companies operate out of Tresola Port, Littora's capital, which also serves as a huge commercial hub for maritime trade.
