Xoris

A kingdom across the Veldan sea, with a strong presence on Eastern Terra Prima. Known for their spice trade, but a reputation that has begun to fade with their expansion into harvesting silver and gold and trade with other countries nearby. A rival country to Kaldreia.

History

Founded under the Noble Dwarven family the Roxors, the Kingdom of Xoris began with a head start in trade across land with access to swampland that could be farmed for a spice known as Yrrdil, which was sought after by many other kingdoms for its hypnotic, slightly addictive properties, and less known for the side effects it causes to taste (Making spicy flavors amplify to a greater degree).   As the kingdom grew, Xoris' development branched into mining and infrastructure, and soon after came the discovery of silver and gold deep below the swamps the kingdom had been settled on. Much to the disdain of the Roxors family, excessive mining led to the depletion of magic minerals in certain arras below the swamps, which were necessary for the spice growth. Though some fields have since been turned barren and useless and razed in favor of other developments, spice growth still remains strong in other regions of the kingdom.   Xoris was the first nation to report the discovery of the nation of Kormyr, and named the land after its discoverer, Captain Jonathan Kormyr. Despite Xoris' attempts to keep the discovery of the nation under the radar of other kingdoms, Captain Kormyr could not keep his mouth shut, and word eventually did reach neighboring Kingdoms.

Religion

No primary or endorsed religion stands prominently in the Kingdom of Xoris. Most churches are citizen-established, with particular attention to gods of agriculture and good fortune.

Lifestyle

Most living in Xoris will find themselves comfortably in the middle-class, and with the benefit of cheap prices on Yrrdil compared to most other kingdoms. The spice is commonplace in Xoris, often used to cure maladies and sicknesses. Some nobles even use Yrrdil recreationally.   Due to excessive Yrrdil use, most food in Xoris is considered mild by other kingdoms, and lacking in spices, but with lots of salting and sweetness.

Military

Although many Kaldreians may swear that Xoris' military is strong, its Army is generally on-par with most other kingdoms, simply able to take advantage of Kaldreia's weaker army.   Xoris' navy, however, is somewhat weak, and unfocused. Being a kingdom mostly landlocked, most ship technology was devoted to crossing swampland, and not much else. Xoris navies envy the day they are equals with Kaldreia's.

Relationships

Xoris sports a very exclusive luxury, making it both the target and friend of many Kingdoms neighboring it, with the exception of Kaldreia, who depend more on clerics for healing. The Xoris Family hopes to pressure Kaldreia out of ecenomic favor, before they become too big to continue to rival.
