The Temple Report

The Gang picks up where they left off last time, with three Tabaxi (a fighter, a ranger, and a sorcerer) acting as a guarding party to Krinrez , a lizard-folk diplomat.   Eles Raagha tries to determine if it would be safe to enter the Temple through using Detect Undead, but other than Merrli nothing major stands out.   Mantis Bugbattler talks to Krinrez trying to help her calm down, and is able to get through to her a little bit, and learns that this is where the last stand of the Lizard-Folk would have been against the Yuanti.   The Gang opens up the Temple. It is littered with corpses of Yuan-ti and Lizard-folk. Eles asks Krinrez if she has any death rites that she wants to perform on the members of her race, and Krinrez stares at her in confusion, before registering that they are all members of the Greater Races. Krinrez kindly explains that, as they are created members of a lesser race from a lesser god, they do not have an after-life as some would say. They are matter and energy, and when they die they return to being matter and energy. There is no soul inside a member not created from one of the greater gods.   All members of The Gang are shocked by this new revelation. And Krinrex takes Eles and Merrli down to the library underneath to learn about the death of the Scaled Mother.   Dara Riswynn Proudstone takes her time and studies the bodies strewn about the place. She is able to determine that the bodies were defending the alter, and that there are no other egresses from the temple than the main doors.   Merrli and Eles Raagha study the gods in the basement library and are able to determine that, through a slightly unreliable narrator, the Scaled Mother was murdered by her sister in cold blood. The Gang also determines that the lesser races do not indeed have an afterlife.   Mantis Bugbattler and Dara Riswynn Proudstone go hunting for treasures in the temple.   The Gang groups back up with each other, and they determine that the best course of action is to head down to the warehouses, and clear out the other warehouse of monsters. Very efficiently, they manage to do that thing, and pick up a few interesting treasures while they are at it; however, as they begin to return to the Temple they hear screaming and run back to find the Tabaxi and Krinrez in the Temple being attacked by some Yuanti. The Priestess from the The Hidden Temple of the Scaled Mother was back, as well as a few of her minions. The Gang, with the help of the Tabaxi, managed to get rid of the minions, and annoy/scare the Priestess enough that she decided to teleport out of there vowing to be back.    At that moment, while The Gang decided to flee the temple with the group of Tabaxi and Krinrez, they hear screaming coming from behind them, as Krinrez guides them to the Mausoleum on the hill.
