Sulafat

Fearful. Celebratory. Bittersweet. These are the ways that the residents of Sulafat feel day-to-day. The town was founded by a half-drow and grown by hundreds more fleeing the underdark over the years. Be it Lolth, or just drow society, the escaped dark elves each have their own stories, many of which you hear sung in the local tavern, or in the bustling marketplace. The name Sulafat derives from the drow words for grace (suliss) and health (afya), along with the founder's name: Aat Kitryeyl.   But this is not simply a town of celebration; it is also a town of immense grief. The underdark is not an easy place to escape from, especially as someone who was raised a warrior or servant of the empire. Many of those who escaped to Sulafat left behind loved ones who they will likely never see again. And even the most moral of dark elves will be looked at with scrutiny because of the actions of Lolth-sworn drow. These things weigh heavy on the members of the town. Still, when surrounded by others who escaped sucessfully, it is difficult not to feel a melody of hope emerge against the dissonance of sorrow.
