Zilaidat

Defences

The city of Zilaidat is less defensible than many of the other cities due to its inland status. The only walls used for defense in the city are concentrated around the main temple and other associated Church grounds, but Church inquisitors walk the streets as "guards" at all hours.

Industry & Trade

Many inhabitants of Zilaidat are craftsmen, day laborers, merchants, or clergymen.

Infrastructure

The city of Zilaidat's economy was built off of the trade of raw metals from the east, which were refined in Zilaidat, and other manufactured goods from the west, which came through towards the outer towns on the edge of the Vorin Desert. As a result, metalworking, blacksmithing, forging, and other such practices are common within the city, and many of the buildings to the outer edges are devoted to production that matches the influx of raw goods from the east.

Guilds and Factions

The Merchant's Guild has the heaviest presence in this city. The wealth of industry and trade that runs through Zilaidat is impressive, and the guild wasted no time capitalizing on it.

Architecture

Most of the buildings in Zilaidat are made out of clay brick, sandstone, or some mixture of the two, and the architecture was made with the climate in mind. Wells and aqueducts can be found throughout the city, and areas where large concentrations of people will meet are more often than not made in shaded areas or built in such a way as to keep the area cool. Many buildings are decorated in lighter colors, with the central temple being painted a vibrant white.

Geography

The terrain is very nearly desert in the surrounding area; save for the scarce patches of the grasses found in the Hallowed Plain, there is no plant life anywhere nearby Zilaidat. As a result, most food, excepting for the livestock that occasionally grazes close to the city, is imported.

Natural Resources

There is not much to speak of in the surrounding area. The hard, cracked ground is virtually incapable of sustaining plant life, but the surrounding area is rich in valuable metals, which has led to a large amount of mines being set up in the area.
