Aquer
Aquer is one of the most impressive cities of New Arcea, but not for its size. Its original builders, before the Fall of the 13, made Aquer entirely on the water using some archaic technique. Since then, the gnomes and other craftsmen who live in Aquer have been using everything short of arcane magic that is at their disposal to keep the artificial island afloat, while adding onto it as the city expands.
Demographics
Other than Neruset and Argentum, Aquer is one of the most racially diverse cities of New Arcea. The largest non-human population is gnomes, followed by dwarves and elves.
Defences
Aquer is one of the least defensible cities of New Arcea, but it makes up for this with its natural defenses. The bay in which it sits is massive, and with the storms that blow through for half of the year, the city is hard to reach if you don't know how to get to it. Aquer is protected from these storms using divine magic and some very ingenious architecture, but many merchants still tend to avoid Aquer during the wet season.
Industry & Trade
Most of the industry in Aquer comes from the craftsmen, tradesmen, and other skilled workers, who are among the most talented across New Arcea. At all months of the year, though less so during the wet season, there is an influx of raw materials from Argentum, Neruset, and the other port cities that is matched if not exceeded by the exports of manufactured goods from Aquer. Many also come to Aquer to study under some of these skilled craftsmen, or to study through the College.
Infrastructure
The docks of Aquer, much like the rest of the port cities of Arcea, are one of the largest parts of the city. Aquer is also home to the largest reliquary of knowledge not owned by the Church: the College of Aquer, where many of the more mundane professions are taught.
Architecture
Many of the materials in Aquer are light as a result of its unique locale. Closer to the center of Aquer, many of the buildings are from before the Fall of the 13 and are made out of stone, with the temple at the center having been repurposed from some other unknown use before the Fall.
Natural Resources
The only natural resources of Aquer come from the surrounding bay. Fish is commonly what is eaten in Aquer, but some crafty engineers have started to grow rice and sugarcane in specialized farms at the northern edge of the city.
