Alitheis
Alitheis is the capital city of New Arcea, and is home to the main temple of the Divine Church.
Government
The Church of the Divines runs everything. In theory, nothing happens in this city without the knowledge of the Church, and the Church uses their inquisitors as town guards for the safety of the people living there.
Defences
This city is the most heavily defended city in all of Arcea, and has massive stone walls bordering the city proper.
Industry & Trade
This is one of the most trade-intensive cities in Arcea. Almost no raw products are produced here, and many who live here are merchants, priests, nobles, tradesmen, or are working for the Church in some other capacity than religious, including as slaves from other continents.
Guilds and Factions
While the most prominent faction is the Church of the Divines, the noble class also shares a considerable portion of the limelight in the capital of New Arcea.
Also present is the Merchant's Guild, an ever-present organization of merchants and craftsmen looking to ensure fair trade between each of the Arcean cities and beyond, as well as to ensure that a monopoly is kept on the Church's weapon supplies.
Points of interest
The Stotheikos in the very center of the city is the most major point of interest to note in Alitheis. Also of note is the Crypt of the Archpriests, a large building built on the eastern side of the Stotheikos that is considered hallowed, as well as the Merchant's Square to the western edge of the city, where most of the trade takes place.
Architecture
Imported sandstone has been used to build much of the city, and most of the inner city has been built with marble. The central ziggurat of the Stotheikos is the most extravagant building in New Arcea, and features countless statues to the Divines, past and present Archpriests, heroes of the Crusades, and important nobles.
Geography
This is one of the only cities not to have been build into a hillside or inside a protected cove or valley. The surrounding area is mostly flat, rolling plains used for grazing and occasionally farming. The city is built close to a lake, and therefore keeps a constant supply of water during the dry season.
Natural Resources
The fertile soil and nearby lake make Alitheis prosperous, but the lack of trees in the vicinity does present some challenges.
