Kraeon 18
You're going to explore what? Oh no you're not. Do you know how many tried and failed? I don't even remember all their names, and it's my job to keep track of that stuff. It's not like I can stop you if you really want in. It's your funeral after all.
Among the nearly infinite dimensions explored by the I.D.E.A., more than a few are deeply disturbing. Though none as dreadful as the infamous Kraeon 18, also called the maze dimension. Legions of Explorers ventured inside, all coming back deeply scarred by their journey, with conflicting reports. None of them seems to have experienced the same thing, as if this whole world was ever-changing. More than forty years after its discovery, it remains one of the five great failures of the Agency, and a ritual of passage for the Explorers willing to prove something to their peers.
This is you, today. The gate operator doesn't really care what brought you here. Hubris, a lost bet, or simply foolishness? His disillusioned gaze says it all, he gave up on a successful exploration long ago. He thinks, like many in the Agency, that this is just a farce right now, and merely sighs while handing you the equipment.
Here, it's the emergency signal to open the way back. The further you are from your entry point, the more expensive it is, so at least try to backtrack a bit before pressing the button. This is your only way out, I'll shut down the gate right after your passage, security policy. Well, good luck I guess.
