Stealth classes revolve around sneaking around the battlefield and helping their teammates. For example, one stealth class might try getting cheap hits off on enemies, getting critical hits, performing recon, or drawing attention to them. Currently, there are five stealth classes. As a little fun fact, the stealth classes are divided by how they use their stealth in combat. The Thief class uses their stealth to steal from others, the Recon class hides and gathers information on what they're fighting, the Assailant class focuses on attacking weak points, and the Detective class uses their stealth to solve mysteries. Finally, the Vigilante class uses their stealth to fight crime. While they all serve the purpose of sneaking around, each one serves a different purpose in the party. As stated previously, their purpose in the party is commonly a damage dealer. But most are less direct about how they attack. Some might use several gadgets, or others might abuse status effects. It depends, but their creative mind is what separates them from the soldier class.
