History

The Hronuhin Confederation is relatively young faction. The foundation being only a couple generations ago.
The Founder of the Confederation of Centaur tribes was Alistikor Steelhoof.
The Hronuhin centaurs have long lived on the fringes of society. Their more bestial appearance has led some nations to look upon them as less than human - in fact, one of the earliest-surviving Hronuhin myths tells of a great war fought against a group of twolegs who sought to wipe out the centaurs because of what they are

Demography and Population

Powerful Families

The Steelhoof (Bolatuyaq) Clan

The Steelhoof Clan holds a special place of respect because its members were responsible for uniting the clans together into the Hronuhin Confederation. They were the first clan to adopt large-scale trading with the twolegged races, and they do business in a wide array of fields.

The Cloudmane (Bulttiliq) Clan

The Cloudmane Clan are the primary rivals to the Steelhoofs, though the Cloudmanes acknowledge the hegemony of the Steelhoofs and are content to keep the peace for now. They tend to deal in luxuries such as silks, spices, and other exotic goods.

The Windtail (Jelquyrigi) Clan

The Windtails are the smallest of the major clans, but they make up for their small size through their determination and drive. They serve Northguard and the Confederation as couriers, carrying messages and smaller parcels swiftly to their destination.

The Stoneback (Tasarqaw) Clan

The Stonebacks are brawnier than the other Hronuhin centaurs, and they're known for their big hearts and their dependability. They are steadfastly loyal to the Steelhoofs. They assist with moving heavy goods, such as timber and rough stone, in the larger economies.

The Dusktail (Tunquyrigi) Clan

As their name suggests, the Dusktail clan are known for their darker coats and softspoken nature. Dusktails tend to deal with smithies, clothiers, and other manufacturers of more refined goods.

The Roundrump (Domalaq) Clan

The Roundrump Clan are the most numerous of the clans, and they were once the wealthiest, as they owned the most extensive flocks. Though the change to a coin-based economy has undercut their prominence, they have still managed to turn a profit, dealing in livestock and the tools of agriculture. Mares from this clan are renowned for their beauty and fecundity (which some say contribute to the clan's place as the most populous).

Religion

Before the confederation the centaurs of the North were animists in thier religions. Typically worship was dedicated to various deities of the sky or land.
The Confederated Centaurs find themselves worshipping the diety Pelor, though most lands would likely use Lathander to refer to the same diety.
In addition to his domain as the god of dawn, spring, and vitality, the Hronuhin also worship him as a god of wind and the plains. The past two generations have seen the adoption of other gods in addition such as Skerrit, Shaundakul, Shiallia (in whom they include some aspects of the goddess Sune), and Waukeen.

Worship

There are three important holidays for the Hronuhin:
  • Keremeti (formally Pelordiñ Keremeti) is the celebration of their chief god Pelor held on the summer solstice. It consists of feasting, ritual prayers, and athletic games from the sun's rising to its setting.
  • Jambasqww is a springtime celebration of the goddess Shiallia that roughly coincides with the springtime heat of the centaurs. The centerpiece is a matchmaking dance, marriages of new couples, and a celebration of any children born during the season.
  • Rliqorw is a fall ceremony that is part harvest festival and part national festival. It commemorates the date when the Clans came together to form the confederation under the Steelhoof Clan. Each clan shares gifts with the other as a show of the wealth they have acquired, and there is a grand feast whose centerpiece is a large vat of soup to which every clan contributes some ingredient. (A mishap a decade ago has lead to the related custom of otjew. A foal on the cusp of adulthood is chosen from each clan to drink from the pot of ottisw, a strong liquor to which spices have been added. After each round, more spices and stronger liquor are added to the pot to test their endurance.
