Gerudo
"If you chase a mirage, the desert will swallow you. Only one path is true." -Entrance to the Haunted Wasteland, Ocarina of TimeThe Gerudo are a desert dwelling people in the west of Hyrule. Traditionally, the race consists almost solely of women. A single male Gerudo is born into the tribe every hundred years. This male is destined by Gerudo law to become their king. When there is no male to be their king, the Gerudo are led by a chief with the position passed on from mother to daughter.
Proud Women Of The Desert
The Gerudo are a desert-dwelling folk, indigenous to the Gerudo Desert to the south-west of Hyrule. They lead nomadic lives in the desert, and live as merchants in Gerudo Town. Gerudo commonly have the following traits: dark skin, red hair, and a sharp aquiline nose. Their skin color can vary between light and dark brown to an olive tone, while their eyes can be amber or green. They can have pointed or rounded ears.Don't Take Us So Lightly
The climate of the desert has made the Gerudo tough and resourceful. They are warriors by reputation, feared and respected in the countries they inhabit. Many Gerudo are raised to fight from an early age. Even if they do not become guards or soldiers, those who travel as merchants can still use their skills to defend themselves. Because of your life in the desert, you do not take exhaustion from the desert heat.Gerudo Names
Every gerudo has a birth name, a tribe name, and a matronymic. For example: "Anche Korsh-Agaat, daughter of Ardin". Each of their seven tribes is named after an ancient gerudo heroine, whose meaning in Common is added in parenthesis. An eighth tribe name is reserved for chiefs, witches, sages, and any male born to the tribe.Female Names.
