The Yellow Spears
An old and infamous mercenary company, the Yellow Spears are rightly feared by many of the common people, as over the years, they have been involved in some of the most infamous wartime atrocities in the history of the Isles, even within the Dominion’s lands. While not the largest or most powerful company present, the Yellow Spears instills fear on a primal level, for any group willing to hire these knows exactly what type of message it wants to inflict.
In terms of their uniform, most of their outfit varies from unit type to unit type, but the universal trait among all members is the presence of a yellow cape on each soldier, as well as for the hilt of any weapon, be it sword, mace or most infamously spear, should be painted red. They also wield a yellow banner with a spear on it for their flag, giving them their name.
Structure
The highest rank, as with most companies, lies to the captain-general. Below him lies the captains, who each control a large wing of the company. Below these lie the corporals, who command small units of up to twelve soldiers. This ensures communication between units is quick and they are therefore able to coordinate attacks well. There are fewer rules as to the wartime behaviour of members of the organisation however, nor for their private lives. As a result, the company tends to attract those deemed too dangerous by many others.
Public Agenda
Promising efficiency, the Yellow Spears advocates for nothing more than getting the job done at a good price. Cheap and easy to hire, they carry out tasks to the order, at least when instructed to do so. If instructions are not too strict however, their current leaders allow them to act freely in whatever way they please.
Assets
While most infamous for the gold-painted spears, the company possesses a wide variety of weapons depending on whatever resources are available, as well as impressive armour and beasts of burden such as murks, camels and horses.
Numbering around fifteen hundred to two thousand strong, they make up for lack of numbers with ferocity.
Military
Numbering between fifteen hundred and two thousand in times of good business, which is usually opposite of prosperity in the political scene. While organised, discipline is dissapointing compared to other companies, and so mutinies are quite frequent regarding subjects such as plunder. The Captain-General, therefore, relies on ruthlessness and intimidation to remain in power, as well as making sure to befriend the lesser captains to keep others in line.
Possessing at least two dozen murks, an unusually high number for a company of such size, they also possess between four hundred and six hundred cavalry and double the number of human infantry, along with centaurs and Vrain skirmishers, specialised in swarming tactics.
