SE06 : EP10 - Kidnapping in Mortenfield pt. 3

General Summary

At his manorhouse, Daphix is milling around and seems a bit unsure of what to do with his time. Brumhilde pushes him out of the house. He asked to join the group that is running for Wulf Goldbrick. Once at the The Guildhall , Wulf greets him and leads him to the Iris chamber. Daphix is caught up on the mission by Reggie, the party's signal. He enters the portal, shapes into a vulture, and is off to meet the group.   The party is traveling from Mortenfield on their way to Nasmith via Carrighnton, investigating the path the merchants took. They found bodies and coded journals. Beyond them is a green dome of green gas. They are discussing the situation as a bird flies down out of the sky. The large bird roosts onto their cart. Ryder looks over and notices the curled grey feathers in ht shape of horns that identify them as Daphix. He makes a psychic link with Kayla and describes evidence he saw of battle while flying over. They explain their belief that a town along the caravan trail is in the green dome. They present the symbol of the merchant guild, and Sentinel passes the journal on to Ryder to decode. In the meantime, they catch Daphix up on the details.   Kayla investigated the perimeter of the gas cloud, feeling that the most likely source of this potent effect would be the breath of a green dragon. Ryder rejoins the group and explains that the journal is primarily a ledger, log of contacts, and trade notes. Amongst them are indicators of kidnapping and slave trading. A sense of urgency falls over them. They must get to the Nasmith port with all haste to save the kids before they head out to sea.    Leaving behind the horse, they take advantage of Daphix's magic to take the shape of eagles and fly as a flock. They soar into the air and make short work of the journey. They come upon a gnarl of dock rising from the water leading to a tall building of white plaster and orange domed roofs. It's nestled into twin cliffs that protect the harbor.    Outside the town, they transform back to their natural state. Stopped at the city gate, the non-humans get dirty looks but are allowed in. They start forming plans to locate the children. Splitting up, they chase leads that combine to point toward a man named Tax, that operates out of a waterside dive bar called Washed Ashore. Upon investigation, they arrange a meeting the owner, but is it a trap?
