SE06 : EP06 - World of Glass Part II

The CREATURES start aggressive movements. The party spreads out through the glass woodlands and begins to take them down. It's a gooey-bodied beast that attempts to engulf members of the party. Kayla becomes enveloped and sees phantasmal and confusing imagery. Even once they escape, their senses are frazzled. The creature knocks the trees around it, causing a shower of sharpened glass leaves to fall on the party. The party assaults it as another appears a bit further off. Under their attacks, the monster falls. They round on to the second. Allory gets pulled into its mass as the rest of the party rushes to join the new fight. The creature slimes through the party, engulfing Gavin. The creature glides in oozing movements as they try to kill it. Gavin is released, and the creature falls.   Two humanoids made of a cleanish ooze emerge, taking the party in. A network of nerve tissue and nodes is suspended in their form. They have belts and holsters strapped to them. They hold weapons. Cornelius listens hard and catches a few words from the beings. They are plasmoids and have some trepidation around the newcomers. They get to work with a contraption that fills glass jugs with the remains of the monsters as Cornelius attempts further conversation. On of the others walks up to Ally. It spreads its "hands" towards her head. She allows the plasmoids spreads probes of ooze down her ears and into her mouth and throat. Once the awkward moment ends, the plasmoid adjusts its body and can now communicate with its type of voice and hearing.   He now calls themselves Ulululululu and identifies the other as Bwaaaugh. They exchange information with strange beings. It becomes clear that rain is coming, and they find they are invited to the Plasmoid's city for shelter. They grapple with the very different forms of life the two peoples represent. Solids and plasmas. They name another tribe or peoples called oozlings. They make their way into the settlement; there are more Plasmoids most are smaller, standing 4 to 6 feet. As they enter, the rain starts to fall. It burns the skin, and the party is quickly ushered under a glass dome that forms their domiciles. Many of them stand out in the rain. As the rain continues to fall, it seems to absorb into the Plasmiods. One of their guides vibrates and then bifurcates in two. They are now independent beings of diminished stature that start on various tasks. This is how they reproduce, through "expansion," a type of cell division. As they wait out the rain, they learn more about their culture. How they absorb the rains to expand. The way they gather glass of various shapes and sizes to craft gear, weapons, tools, and shelters. They describe their ideological difference with the oozlings, who believe in a more 'caustic" way. The Plasmiods live in reverence of Ohhulu "the forest" that was once malleable in form has become "rigid," and the Oozling wish to return Ohhulu to that time. The beams affect the surface of the forest, burning, baking the surface into glass. Also of how the "beams" coming and effects everything. They come after every rain.   Once the rain subsides, the party parts ways and heads back to the portal to stay ahead of the "beams." As they walk, they discuss Allory's choice to leave. Then green light is coming down from the breaking cloud cover. as the light falls, it refracts and bounces around the glass trees and surfaces. as it does, the searing light burns them, and they rush towards the exit. After getting burned to the point of risking not surviving the tens of minutes, it will take to get home. after another few minutes, a passageway opens on the forest floor. Seeing no way to save themselves from the beams, they dive in. A new being of more fluid ooze stands on one tendril about 7 feet tall. it gestures with its humanoid arms and hands. As they try and speak to it, the body of the being ripples until it can reciprocate and form words. Calling itself Sassissismasisah, it speaks of opening its passage so they are not trapped by Ohhulu. The oozling reveals his more aggressive nature, and how he respects the part, mostly because of their stature.   Hours later, they are able to leave, and the oozling invites them to its settlement.
